TROGDOR'S MONDAY THOUGHTS #8
Something that you may have noticed, or perhaps not, is that when writing I often refrain from employing a very specific expansion trope.
Something that you may have noticed, or perhaps not, is that when writing I often refrain from employing a very specific expansion trope: Bra Sizes.
I won't say never, because I do sometimes, but when I do its usually just to set a starting point. I prefer to use physical descriptions and quantifiable measurements to describe the sizes attained by the subjects of breast expansion in my stories.
But why? Would it not be simpler to just say "Her breasts swelled until they were an L-cup". Yes, it'd be simpler. But would it convey correctly the image I'm trying to portray.
Everyone knows how big an L-cup is right? Right?! We're reaching the second half of the alphabet so we're starting to get into some real hefty udders! L-cups, as in L for LARGE!! We're talking full, fat, tits that dominate a chest, projecting proudly. They look...like this??

These models are all wearing properly sized bras for their busts, which according to their measurements should be an L-cup. Probably not what sprung to your head when you thought of "L-cup".
So why the confusion? Well, a lot of it is driven by mainstream media (For years DD has been the de-facto definition for huge boobs. For the record this is what a DD looks like:
Lovely, but not what many would consider "Huge".
Beyond that, the problem stems from most women not knowing what their bra size actually is/should be. This is further exacerbated by models who have their sizing listed somewhere, when they're not at all correct.
Famed big bust model Leanne Crow, on her professional website has her measurements listed. According to her she's a 32JJ in UK sizing, which translates to 32N in US. Without a doubt she's probably much bigger than that.
This isn't an N-Cup
This is.
So. That's why I tend to avoid using cup sizes as descriptions. When I say J-cup, who the fuck knows how big that is.
