We hit our second funding target! You guys are amazing. :-)
The story as set up is limited to agents from countries that are part of the UKUSA (Five Eyes) agreement: the US, UK, Canada, Australia & New Zealand.
Now we've hit the funding target, we intend to introduce some new nationalities into the mix. The story justification will be that she's lent to Five Eyes by her home agency, so the new nationalities have to be Western allies. In addition, until we introduce new ethnicities, she should be caucasian.
That still covers a lot of countries, including:
Belgium
Denmark
France
Germany
Ireland
Israel
Italy
Netherlands
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Spain
Sweden
etc

Actually i would like to see a story with a Mossad-Agent... sooo.. Israel... but dont add to many nations, i'd say you should focus on the game/story first with the 5 nations we now have and add others later when the game is finished... as "bonus" content for example :-)
With full respect, you are bogging down with the side projects. If I had a wish it would be that you would progress the story. Add the extras later.
While I agree about not adding too many new nationalities at once in order to not set back developement too much. Maybe add 1 every two versions released, depending on the content being worked on. As a Swede I do however add my vote for my native Sweden to be among the first.
I only need three choices for my agent: red, white, and blue with a side order of freedom. 'Murica!

I'd have to echo Kendall9000 about being careful about adding too much. The thing I see the most that slows down or halts production are too many options. Either too many branching choices or decisions to keep track of in a CYOA story kill a game that tries to account for all of them, or having too many character options forces descriptions to be cut down to the barebones. Having 17+ nationalities means that the little details that make this game great, such as the Scots hating a British player or being able to use your MI6 clearance to get out of a speeding ticket, won't continue to be in the game to the degree they already are.
Agreed. A poll with all options, with only the top 2-3 being added in would be much more reasonable.
Don't waste time adding crap we don't need. Move the story along.
That's a bit blunt, but to be honest I'd have to agree. I've seen the development of a few 'sandbox' games get bogged down with 9000 different options for character creation and initial set up. I don't think anything should be rushed, but I'd suggest that most people will care more about story content than being able to make their agent Belgian rather than British...

Ireland is an interesting idea, you have the good friday agreement as that big life changing moment.
I like the idea of a Scandinavian country. I imagine that would add to her appeal in Bangkok, while also offering somewhat different attitudes to sex and sexuality for the agent growing up in that culture.
I'd like to see Sweden or another Nordic country. I've always found France to be VASTLY overrated as the "sexy" country. If I were being completely honest I'd be fine with anything BUT France or Germany.
Personally I like France, and I will probably stick with France. Having a French secret agent would be sexy as hell.
Israel would make sense as to plausibility and give a ton of story options.
No Asian countries? Wouldn't they make even more sense to be lended over as a resource to operate in Thailand? Or would be going after the target themselves simply because of the proximity to their own counties and its effect on crime there?
1. The intention is to look like a tourist, and that's more easily done by someone not from that region of the world. 2. Creating a plausible scenario for someone from an Asian intelligence agency to work with FIVE EYES without some hidden agenda by one of the parties involved is probably infeasible.
