Combat Pilot - DD #19 - F4F-4 and D3A1 Cockpit Textures
Today’s Developer Diary is all about cockpit textures for the American F4F-4 and Japanese D3A1.
The F4F cockpit textures will look familiar to our Ace Tier subscribers as they have already been added to the Alpha, but we neglected to show these beautiful renders to the public in past diaries. So, here they are!
We are striving to make state of the art cockpits not just for American aircraft, but for Japanese warbirds as well.
Therefore, we also have textures for the D3A1 to show you! Aren’t the front and rear cockpits looking gorgeous? Our Val has gone from nothing, to a beautiful, highly detailed, and even flyable warbird in just under twelve months! That’s incredibly fast work for a two-seater, let alone a Japanese machine which has never been made to this level.
We are now focused on the cockpit textures for the A6M2 Model 21 and work has begun converting the B-17F model we have into the B-17E (Late) which saw action at Midway.
If you like what you see here, tell all your flight-sim buddies and squadron mates to get behind Combat Pilot. We’re making the Pacific air war come alive like never before. BACK THE ATTACK!
Enjoy!

Very excited for this project, especially with some dedication to the Wildcat family of aircraft. The textures are so highly detailed. I do have a question though, what is the control below the Throttle/mixture control. It says "Selective L" and "Selective R" on either side of it. Also will there be any consideration for the FM2?
Both aircraft interiors look fantastic! Well weathered, and like they were recreated from museum replicas. By the way, it was interesting to see the very directional light used to show off these interiors, and I am curious to know whether we will have the combination of hard edged shadows, such as from a point source of light like the sun, and soft edge shadows, such as light from the sky and/or through clouds. These photographs appear to show both hard edged and soft edged shadows and it looks great!
We're so hyped
This is really impressing. I'm so ready for this game and so are all my squadmates...!
Beautiful !!!
