WOTM: Can You Take Action?

After finally leaving religion, I went through an existential crisis, which led to two years of intense study. At the end of it, I still couldn't say that there was anything I knew with any certainty about God. Certainly nothing I could "take to the bank."

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! One more to go! Enjoy! B

Well said, Bri. "Hope springs eternal." Or for believers [assumers?], until they die.

Why do you keep referring to that god as "He" when there is no "she" for "him" to mate with? Having male genitalia is for reproductive purposes, no? I refer to that god as an "it" as my preferred pronoun.

I used to refer to God as a she. But so many women protested, saying they don't want to be associated with that monster.

Our journeys that led us out of Moron'ism are similar, but different. I didn't spend two years reading bona fide christian theology, but rather nearly two decades researching and learning about Pre-Columbian civilizations. What finally struck a chord with me was what Joseph Campbell replied to christian believer Bill Moyer: "People say that what we're all seeking is a meaning for life. I don't think that's what we're really seeking. I think what we're seeking is an experience of being ALIVE… so that the experiences we have on a purely physical plane have resonances within that are those our own innermost being —and reality. So that we actually feel the rapture of being alive."

B, thanks for this one. I am sorry for your long struggle toward becoming an Apatheistic. Please know we all appreciate your evolution and what it has enabled you to do, for us. Your body of work has delighted and informed your devotees. I left Catholicism at aged 18, and did not seek out other organized religions until aged 32(?) when I joined the Unitarian Church in Lincoln, NE. Stayed with them b/c of the enlightened humanist minister. After he departed, so did I. (The UUs do good work, but on Sunday mornings, I like watching CBS Sunday Morning instead.) Apatheism really expresses where I am. And I thank you for the definition, and so much more. C
