WOTM: Christianity, Society, & Slavery
This video has two purposes. The first is to introduce you to a new counter-apologetics content creator. He's been making some terrific videos for the last year, but isn't getting the engagement I think he deserves. Make sure you check out his channel... Sheng Tsai (Mindful Living). The link is in the description of this YouTube video.
Secondly, I just wanted to note how many of these excusegists (Michael Jones in this case) talk about Christianity and its value to society, but use post-Enlightenment Christianity as their standard. Christianity had more than a thousand years to show us its value to society and it gave us a nightmare that people ran from the first chance they got. "Inspiring Philosophy" also talks about Gregory of Nyssa and his anti-slavery stance all the way back in the 4th century. So I couldn't help but have some fun with that as well.
Thanks again, gang! One more to come for the month. Working on it right now. Enjoy!!! B

Well, this is hard to get to on my phone. So, I excitedly await the YouTube videos.👍🏼💙💖💙💝💙🥰✌
The idea that Christians - and therefore, by extension, "Christianity"- ended chattel slavery in the West is laughable. Those that were Abolitionists (of course, were not counting all the Christians that were pro-slavery...cough, cough) were driven, primarily, by secular values, and in the process were doing something that was/is patently anti-Christian. It constitutes a tacit admission that their "holy book", and therefore, their "god", was/is wrong.
Welp… I seriously doubt Mormonism would qualify as "christianity lite." Believing in a stone-in-a-hat? Magic underwear? Healing with a vial of oil and priesthood power? Masonic rituals? Signs, tokens, penalties to enter the "Celestial Kingdom"? Baptizing for the dead? Polygamy? Patriarchal blessings? I'll have to check out Sheng Tsai! Thanks!
Christianity did have total control over the Western World: historians call it "The Dark Ages".
