WOTM: Lying Liars Who Lie
It's amazing to me that people in the media, who know they're being recorded, will just lie their asses off about things that can be easily checked. And no, I'm not talking about our felon in chief.
I saw this clip of Frank lying about slavery in one of Dan McClellan's videos, and was understandably disappointed that Dan can't say the kinds of things I wanted said about this lying sack o' $hit, Frank Turek. These people are truly some of the most vile people in the world. They just don't physically harm others or steal people's stuff. But they do rob people of parts of their lives, and keep them in the dark (a darkness often self-imposed). I'm finding myself more and more at my wit's end with these liars.

My wife and i were traveling* when Bri-Bri released this month’s videos, so i’m just now catching up. It was surreal enough, just being a US American overseas while These Times continue to… continue. How much more wild to be a US American overseas when These Times took the turn that they did on September 10th. While i knew that the far-right would immediately venerate that… victim of gun violence as a martyr, i wasn’t prepared for such huge swaths of my country to commit themselves to lionizing him and whitewashing his horrible career and its impact. For even “liberal” media figures and at least one state governor to eulogize him as a great communicator or guy who “engaged in good-faith debate” and “did politics right”. And then, a week and a half later, to have my apatheist hero not only assault me with Frank Fuckin’ Turek, but with FFT *and* That Guy?? Oof. There’s nowhere to hide anymore. 😆 * My wife and i were fortunate enough this year to not only celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, but to celebrate it with a long trip to Ireland. Like a lot of Americans (especially in the South), my heritage includes large contributions from Ireland and Scotland. But for me the reasons to visit those places—repeatedly—are the beauty and the history. Which is a rather long way of saying that, if you haven’t been, i really hope you get the opportunity to spend time in Ireland—there is so much beauty all over that island. And, yes, of course that includes Northern Ireland. Yes, even go to Belfast and Derry: let them fill you with sadness and rage at How Things Used To Be… and Goddammit How Little Has Changed, and How Quickly We’re Sprinting Backward. And soothe yourself by seeing and experiencing the wonders that Ireland has to share. Please, if you can, spend time in Ireland. For so many reasons.
