Development update - Chapter 1 Part 4
Hi everyone,
Sometimes there are frustrating weeks. This is one of them. I am trying to learn how to do something properly. It's related to animations. I am trying something I haven't done before. But it didn't look good on the first try. So I started over. It's such a time consumer. I can't release this animation like this with motion is unrealistic. The good news is that I managed to fix the animation. I still need to implement it in the timeline, but the motion looks good and realistic now.
I finished posing 3 more animations (4 in total), along with some static renders. And testing it is taking a ton of time. I really want to finish this update, but I don't want it rushed. I'm working as hard as I can. Animation creation can be draining. Sometimes it's better to start over than use something that looks bad. So this was my decision, to take it from the top. I am not giving poor-quality animation. One day of posing went to the drain. But it's part of the process. And also a note to myself. Sometimes you need to take a bit of a break :), I felt a bit of burnout on Wednesday. But woke up realizing I just need to relax for a bit and continue. Also, the animation this time takes a long time to render due to the huge environment, the skin glitter, and multiple reflections that the engine needs to calculate. But it will be worth it, I know. So that's why weekends are dedicated now only to animation rendering.

A good story, good characters and good development of both are the most important. Animations take more time and don't matter that much.
I can definitely agree with that, but it depends on who you ask. If animations are poorly made, they don't matter, aren't worth the time to develop, and aren't worth the player's time to watch. But if they are made with passion and they look good, they are worth it. 1-2 sec repetitive animations from one angle, if expressions are not changing, etc. Making animations was part of my dream going into this. But I didn't know how much it could drain or how long it would take to create one on a good level.
So, does this game have modern animations too? 😮. Mmmm... Take a look into my crystal ball 🔮 and join the dark side of the force, DogCat. Let the AI 🤖 do the animations 😈🎈. Yeah... feel the smoothness of 60 fps 🤣👍!

Thank you Jonathan 🫶. I think puggy is an animator by profession. Saw his animations. Very impressive. I do like to animate. But sometimes things are going the way I intended and with the fact that I need to release and update that can be frustrating not to succeed right away.
Sometimes a day off, is all needed to recarge, but two are better :) cant wait to play again.
