🚀 What is Happening with Firmwares 10.60 to 13.60?
If your PS5 is running on one of these recent updates, the scene has incredible news for us! After a long wait for anyone who wasn't on ultra-old firmwares, developers have made massive strides toward unlocking these higher versions.
And the best part: when it's ready, the activation process will be 100% Web-based (run directly through the console's built-in web browser)!
🤔 What is a PS5 Jailbreak (JB) and how does it work?
Out of the box, the PlayStation 5 comes with restrictions set by Sony that limit what you can install and run. A Jailbreak simply removes these limits: it leverages security vulnerabilities (exploits) to give you full access to the hardware you own.
🌐 How is it done? (Via Web / Browser):
You don't need to open your console, solder anything, or install modchips. Activation is done conveniently by opening a specific webpage through the PS5's own browser. That site executes the necessary code to unlock system features while the console remains powered on.
🎮 What will the Jailbreak be used for in practice?
Once public tools are released for firmwares 10.60 through 13.60, you will be able to:
Run Backup Games (PKGs): Install and play PS4 and PS5 titles stored on internal or external drives without relying on digital licenses.
Homebrew & Emulators: Run community-created applications (retro emulators like SNES, PS1, PS2, PSP, RetroArch, advanced media players, etc.).
Game Mods & Cheats: Apply modifications to offline games (such as fan translations, unlocking 60 FPS on games capped at 30 FPS, or using trainers/cheats).
Full Customization: Manage system files and gain complete control over your console's memory and storage.
🛠️ How to disable automatic updates on your PS5 right now:
Go to: Settings ➔ System ➔ System Software ➔ System Software Updates and Settings and turn off both Download Update Files Automatically and Install Update Files Automatically.
