I think the King ripped his arm off not because he didn't understand how he felt but because he understood how the girl feels. He realized just how much he underestimated her and ripped his own arm off as an apology for disrespecting her by treating her in such a basic way.
I don't think so, I think he ripped his hands because he felt he humiliated himself by trying such a cheap and petty method to win, because this is not how a king is supposed to act, a king would beat his opponent when they are at full strength. He also acknowledges how his resolve is small compared to her.
keep in mind the king also lost to the other players in the other games at first, he quickly learned and surpassed them after a few games
It's kind of brilliant really. Due to his nature, he has basically has an unlimited number of chances at improving himself (evolving/winning). Once he gets that win, he's not going to lose. He's almost entirely detached from consequences and it all mirrors and foreshadows really well.
I forgot Palm existed as well.. but hey at least she is going to be useful and infiltrate the palace. Regarding the lack of Killua and Gon in these episodes, tbh I feel with so many characters in this arc, it would be impossible to focus only on em. The author in later arcs has a thing for putting multiple characters.. or I mean a LOT of characters in one arc at once.
I have to admit, if wasn't for the author explaining and breaking the situation down every episode, I'd be confused as shit, this arc has so many players and variables, it's just impossible to predict anything, that's why I love it.
