The first episode clarified that the ranking of a king depends on three things: the number of loyal guards that serve him, the prosperity and happiness of the town and having the power and strength of a hero. We can also see in the flashback of the fathers ranking that Bebin and Aepeas were fighting with him while Daida fought alone, so maybe that also made him rank lower. I'm sure youll notice while editing, but the suspicious thing mentioned about the ranking system was that the first place gets to pick one piece of treasure from the "Divine Treasure Vault" and they all end up picking the same item and then either lose their mind or go missing
I just hope the people recommend and vote for SpyxFamily next for LM to watch. They will die from cuteness
As Spy x Family has slowly shifted into the Long Anime slot, it now competes with Haikyuu, Monster, Frieren, Kaguya-sama, Fruits Basket, Clannad, March Come in Like a Lion, Jujutsu Kaisen, The Apothecary Diaries and other prominent recommendations for the slot. It's going to be a tough fight.
Just watched this episode for the first time myself. I like this show so far, but I'll admit a lot of it kind of doesn't make sense to me? It doesn't like to explain a lot, and that's fine, but sometimes it can really feel like it throws off the tone of an episode. I'm also admittedly impatient for Bojji and Kage to meet up again lol, I'm not as invested in the other characters. The ending was a bit of a surprise, though I actually started to get suspicious when the foxes died. The other guard (don't know his name, though he's sweet and I like him) said that the knives must have been poisoned, but it got me wondering if maybe the meat had been poisoned instead. So as soon as Domas and Bojji started heading toward the literal hole to hell I thought something bad was going to happen. Still, I thought it might subvert it by having Domas pull Bojji back or that something was going to pop out of the hole instead.
I started the show because of LM too but I've since watched all of it. Can't wait to hear both your takes later on but for now I must read silently v_v

The scene with the flower reminds me of a famous Buddha anecdote known as "The Flower Sermon," where Buddha simply held a flower in front of his disciples and remained silent, transmitting through that simple gesture a teaching that went beyond what words can express

"This show makes me violent" I believe what you're experiencing is cute aggression which is that feeling when something is so overwhelmingly adorable you basically want to die/kill everyone, it's normal 馃槃
You wouldn't say "bring him to the ground" but you could say "bring him back down to earth", that is a saying in English
Ranking of Kings explains almost nothing, so my advice: Print out this crazy guy's face and hang it next to the TV. And do the same with every other strange character. :D
I'd almost suggest doing that for every character, along with their names. I started taking notes and keeping a character list when I first watched Ranking of Kings, and everything felt easier to follow because of that.

I just have to smile that this visually very cute anime requires the viewer to think and interpret a lot. Sometimes a background story is only told with small clues and you have to make it up yourself.
