I absolutely love Killua's character side-arc throughout the chimera ant arc T-T Its one of the best things about the chimera ant arc and I know they're gonna enjoy it a lot too, I can't wait!

Yeah I think the key to appreciating all this talk of fighting and running away vs. perseverance and all that in shonen is that ultimately, it's about tackling challenges in life. Battle is just the language of shonen lol, it's like a way to explore psychologies/philosophies in a visceral way that appeals to their audience.

I'm wondering if Netero set up this test because he understood Gon and Killua's personality from when they played that capture the ball game on the airship. Killua gave up immediately and Gon burnt himself out from exhaustion. Gon also came extremely close to cracking his skull on Netero's abs and would have if Netero didn't bail using his other hand. In a real world application, Gon is too risky and Killua is cautious to the point of ineffective. This feels like he's testing to see if they matured at all since becoming Hunters.

The issue Bisky sees with Killua is more pronounced specifically because Gon is the exact opposite. If they're in an extreme life or death situation and Killua's instincts are to back off and get away, but Gon has no regard for his own life and runs in head first, then Killua can only do so much to try to stop him. He won't always catch Gon unawares and be able to knock him out, and even if he could, making Gon unable to fight anymore, carrying him around, and taking the time to even do it could all mean death. I imagine Bisky is worried there's a breaking point where Killia will think they MUST run away, but Gon wont follow him, and Gon could die because he was alone, when there was a still chance it could've been fine if they fought together.

If you think about it. Gon and Knuckle have a similar issue. It's compassion for the enemy. Killua and Shoot also have a similar issue. It's fear. Both pairs trying to fix what they lack. Bisky's line about Killua leaving Gon is *chef's kiss* Really needed for Killua to realize and for him to try to find a way to break how Illumi "thought" him to fight.

Bisky was speaking facts this episode. If there is a highlight about this arc so far is the fact as to how they explained to us how Gon and Killua approached dangerous situations and how this might affect their future regarding encounters with other enemies. We keep moving slowly this arc but at least we are highlighting some important aspects of the main characters.
