Feelin' good that both of you got interested in Chrollo. The more you know about him, the more interesting it becomes. As for an example, Phantom Troupe are 13 all together with Chrollo as leader. In a different portrait, Jesus also had 12 people with him. His phylosophy as a character is "the most human individual and in the same time, the most inhuman individual" And it shows in the YorkNew Arc, as the moment where Chrollo tear up for Uvo. And the reverse also it shows, some eps later. However, enjoy the arc. It's one of the juiciest in hxh.
When people talk about HunterxHunter they always bring up Chimera arc and yes it is the best but for me this one? Yorknew City, is such a close second. So many things happen in this arc, it;s just so dope!
Personally this has always been my favorite Arc of the series.

kurapika's backstory is on manga special volumes. And we were starting to get A LOT of phantom troupe backstory when the manga went into hiatus

I hope you guys are open to manga reading videos after the anime is over. The anime gives a satisfying ending, but when you fall in love with the characters you have to keep going.
Also (vague spoiler) I can think of one major character who certainly does not get a satisfying ending in the anime
I think you're referring to Gaara from Naruto, the red mark on his head is a similar design choice
Since you asked: Yes, the manga does give the backstory of the Phantom Troupe. That happened in the most recent chapters. It’s very unlikely that the HxH anime will ever adopt the rest of the manga, so I recommend reading it after you finish the anime. And do reactions.
HxH is the first and only manga i've ever read for an anime. I liked it. But honestly I feel like recommending for people to read it after the anime is the same vibe of recommending the Silmarillion to people after they watched the LOTR Trilogy. Even getting through the one big main fight in that was a struggle for me. Maybe I dont read enough, books or mangas, but the by the time the new chapters came out earlier this year, i had forgotten nearly everything in the unfinished arc.
I was hoping this was the Bear 😩 oh well lol happy for the rest of you at least.
