Jesus christ the novel above me
I love it 😀
ok, i found the time to listen to the discussion while taking a shower and lol, you did NOT like the sci-fi turn. i mean, i'm not even sure if it's going to happen or not but if it's well explained i don't think i would mind. i actually thought about the girl too and how maybe she's angela as a kid because in this episode they showed a picture of what i think is angela as a kid with her mother but i'm not sure if it's the same kid and i don't want to check it so i don't 'spoil' myself.
I know! It made me so sad how disappointed they seemed after the episode. I hope the show can regain some of the momentum and trust back, because this back half of the show is actually the most popular
can't watch the discussion until tonight but what a start for the new season. i admit sci.fi was not something i was expecting to have in this show but i trust the creator knows what he's doing so i'll just go along with it. angela is a fascinating character. i think i personally liked her more before but the more grey angela becomes the more intriguing and captivating she becomes. but also, the more morally grey she becomes the more i think she's going to end up dead by the end of the show or maybe even before. to be honest the only main character i think will survive for sure is darlene. i think angela has a high possibility of dying and elliot could die or could live, 50/50. though if now they're introducing parallel univers, time travel or somethin like that my predicions are worth shit. i missed dom this episode. funny how a character that was only introduced in season 2 has become so important to me that i feel her absence even if she's not in just one episode. i do not know how to intepret that "you're the only one i can trust right now". for a second i was like, 'fuck you, what about your sister?' but that would be hypocritical of me since i have to feeling that she's in contact with dom. at least that's the impression i got from that scene in the bathroom and then when that guy said that what she was staring was an fbi car. also, that conversation with elliot gave me the impression that she was trying to get elliot to say that tyrell was involved and maybe she's wearing a mic. idk, i don't think she'd turn on elliot but she looked scared shitless, so i wouldn't count it out. anyway, great episode and can't wait to hear your thoughts on the discussion.
Because of their cooperation with fsociety it's easy to forget that Elliot and Darlene don't have the best relationship, and in Angela's words were never really that close. Meanwhile, Elliot and Angela were close childhood friends who stayed in touch as adults, as opposed to Darlene who left the picture and only reconnected with Elliot about a month before the first episode of the whole show. I'm glad you're enjoying Angela! I agree -- from S3 onwards she feels like a whole new character, and when I first watched I was completely focused on her whenever she was in a scene with other characters. The whole intrigue about her psyche dominates every scene for me. And I'm glad you appreciate the morally grey nature of her (Dark Angela, I guess? haha), the girls seem very upset at how she's treating Elliot -- which is understandable, but I love the complex nature of it. Of the core characters she always felt like the odd one out and a bit of an outsider but now she's thrust right into the center of all the mystery and plot. It's great

You can tell Melina is not here at all for this show going down the sci-fi route😂 I was the same, what we’ve seen so far is a great show based in reality but skewed by someone’s mental “illness” (if it can be called that), can’t wait for the reactions for the rest of this show, it’s in my top 5/6 shows I’ve ever seen
She had me dying in her review. "Oh, c'mon..." lol she sounds like she'd be furious if the show goes that route. I was wondering the entire show how they were gonna respond to this episode in particular.
Let's go season 3! From this point onwards the show kicks into high gear. Lots of payoff for all the setup in season 1 and 2. Better writing and cinematography and overall just an improved version of the show we have grown to love in the first two seasons. I'm excited!
With regards to the year, the whole show takes place in an alternate (ironic lol) 2015. The Trump stuff is intersplicing real life with the show. But Obama is still the president for them at this point of the show. Honestly that whole monologue doesn't quite work for me, so I had to mute and let it play out when watching the full reaction XD I feel like the "Fuck society" one from S1 is bearable, the "Fuck god" one from S2 is slightly more cringe, and the one from this episode is too much for me. But hey, it's well acted and well shot. And I like the new OST used for it.
Elliot is smarter than you guys give him credit for. When Darlene was in his apartment, the device he puts down is one that generates noise to disrupt any audio surveillance. It happens a couple other times in season 2 when Joanna and her bodyguard are discussing the guy they killed, you can see the same device being used. So even if she was wearing a wire it wouldn't pick up any audio

From The Verge aftershow for this episode (they all still exist on the Mr. Robot Facebook page under videos for anyone interested). They read off some tweets from fans after it aired and the best one imo was "Pretty much since day one 'I have no idea what's going on' has been a staple of 'Mr. Robot' viewership. They delight in leading with mystery."
Trust me, however far-fetched the show seems sometimes, it is more down-to-earth than anything else :).
one minor detail, even though they are borrowing Trump + border wall imagery for the monologue, you are still in 2015, Obama is still president ect..
Season 3 is so good it' a next level compared to the first 2.
I love the atmosphere of Season 3! It has this almost dystopian cyberpunk vibe. This is where the plot gets really serious.
God this season is so good can't wait for the next episode
I'm so glad they have pointed out Irving as being somewhat similar to Lalo, because his personality is spot on similar with Lalo - you ladies described his personality perfectly already lol. Charming and psychotic. Irving is one of my favourite characters (the new character introduced)
Honestly it's great that you're concerned about the direction it's taking. That's part of the experience. Esmail is very careful with what he tells you, he knew that when he introduced these storylines it would scare the audience, what you're feeling now is how he wants you to feel. I remember not feeling good after this episode too. At least you have the luxury of already knowing that the show has a very well received ending. The rest of us didn't know that back then.
Yeah, I remember having the exact same reaction as them: "WTF is this? Parallel universe? That has nothing to do with the story!" Trust in Sam. He will deliver.
Do you realize that all white Rose employees kill themselves before getting caught? She has some powerful message.
The sequence at the end of this episode is so beautiful, I watched it like 5 times on youtube in preparation for this episode lmao. The build up with the music, the cut to show Elliot instead of Mr Robot "I'm looking right at him", the sudden power coming back on. The work they've done in building up Angela's character is so good, you don't necessarily understand her but you believe her, her relationship with Elliot, her cold professionalism to Mr Robot. What a show! I forgot the order of episodes so I looked up the rest of this season and.... I have no words, I'm just excited as hell! Best reaction series to an incredible show.
I knoooow. It's like the drop of a rollercoaster. It doesn't let up for a while
I will give you both a full guarantee: By the end of the show, *you will get answers for everything* and it will all tie together.
Whiterose to Dom, at the party in China last season: "Have you ever wondered how the world would look if the 5/9 hack never happened? In fact, some believe there are alternate realities playing out that exact scenario... with other lives we're leading... other people that we've become... The contemplation moves me very deeply."
I was also going to suggest they rewatch this scene given their discussion. It's a prominent theme. Elliot's favorite movie is mentioned to be Back to the Future 2 many times, too. Oh! And another small one is Darlene's monologue in the hospital last season. She wonders how different her life would be if she wasn't separated from the woman who kidnapped her
It's fine to let you know: "Evil Corp" is what is heard when in Elliot's presence whether it's him or Mr. Robot "E Corp" is what is heard when Elliot is not in the scene
I trust Sam Esmail like I trust Vince Gilligan
There are a handful of creators / creative teams whose I trust implicitly and wholly. Vince Gilligan / Peter Gould and the BB universe crew are one. Sam Esmail is another. Tony Gilroy and the Andor team are on their way if Andor Season 2 is as good as Season 1.
S1: Fuck Society S2: Fuck God S3: Fuck Me S4: ???
Season 3 is a much better improvement over season 2. Season 4 is the best of the entire series. I promise this show won't disappoint. It's in my top 10 all-time list and I've seen a lot of TV shows. Can't wait for your season 3 reactions, and especially season 4. It was obvious watching season 3 and 4 that the writers had a clear vision for the entire show from the start. Season 3-4 is where things become less confusing, less dark, and at times, very wholesome.
This is my first watch-through since finishing the show, and it really is amazing how much the entire thing was understood from the first episode, and how present the logic is in every scene. It makes sense why Sam started directing every episode himself, to keep make sure everything fits correctly
The final scene with Angela introduced me to "Touch" with rapidly became one of my favorites. The song complements the scene wonderfully as she talks about her new perspective and reasons for doing what she's doing, and the music is both beautiful but with a sense of foreboding, as if it's seeing things from her new "hopeful" perspective while also treating it as something worth being concerned about. Angela's definitely a confusing character to parse but I think she's def fascinating. ROT 13 S4 spoilers: V gbgnyyl trg jul gurl'er abg wnmmrq nobhg cnenyyry havirefrf orvat vaibyirq, naq fhecevfr!
