Yes, when I rewatched episode 45, I also had the feeling that it was the quietest episode, and that it was pulling several strands to a close. So it would really be a good time for the OVAs. But then I think of episode 46 and how I would much rather see that one. If need be, the OVAs could also be combined with the bloopers (7 min episode) after the finale.

There's a cute part from the manga that was cut out of the anime, where Hohenheim talks to Al about how Pinako introduced him to Trisha (unlike what was implied in the recap episode, he didn't know her as a kid). In Hohenheim's words, the second he met Trisha he "basically swooned", which I always thought was very adorable.

finally I'm at home and can watch this one. That last scene with Greed and Ling is one of my all time favorites. I became very numb to most of the sad scenes after watching so many times. But this scene is the only one that still always gets me. The moment that Greed starts to scream while holding the dead body of his friend... perfection.
