Well ain’t that a bit of a spoiler…
I really think the writing and performance for Sally in this show is underrated, I loved the discussion on her. I think most shows would've either just made her a love interest or a joke or something. But she rides such a fine line between being a shallow shitty person in her own right (albeit on a scale dwarfed by almost every other character on this show with the majority of them being gangsters or hollywood sleaze.) but also being a character you can still find familiar and even want to root for as obviously flawed as she is. Also its endlessly funny to me to see these actors playing these shallow "shitty actors" and then doing these scenes like when Sally breaks down during that audition. I think this show has a lot of terrific performances that kinda go under the radar because this show has such a weird unserious tone (until it doesnt)
Yeah, I remember being really impressed with Sally's actress from just the first first episodes. She's the stand out of the show for me as far as raw acting talent. Not that any of the other main characters are slouches in that department, of course..
One of the great things about Barry is that since he is a hitman he is actually acting all the time, and it is in the acting class where he is learning to become “himself”.

OMG I just realized the guy that plays Goran is the main villain in season 1 of True Detective. That was such a creepy ass character!
Sally and Barry were the PERFECT example of how fandoms react differently to male vs. female characters. So many people hated Sally because she was "annoying". One of the creators/writers -- I honestly can't remember who (Maybe Bill Hader himself? Maybe somebody else) -- actually responded to that with "Barry KILLS people!" it was such a crystal clear presentation of how sexism and misogyny drove the fandom engagement. Sally absolutely is a self-centered person. But we all know self-centered people just like her, and at different times in our lives we may have BEEN that self-centered person. It's part of existing as a human. She is a brilliantly written, perfectly acted, FASCINATING character. And I LOVE that we get to go along on this great ride of humanity with her. And since I forgot to say it before, I DO hope that you feel better! Remember to drink lots of water! People often forget because they're taking medicine, but basic hydration is a critical factor in recuperating!
I mean the poster child for this phenomenon is obviously Skyler and Walter. It’s not even just online, I remember my dad watching BB and he was like “Skyler is such a b*tch” and “I can’t believe she’s withholding the kids from Walter” and I stunned him when I blatantly pointed out that it’s completely rational and logical to not want a pathological liar who is entrenched with violent organized crime to not be involved with your children. I’m really glad I did not watch this show as it came out so I could avoid all those comments and hysteria.

I don't get sick very often, but when I do it tends to linger. And linger. And liiiinger. Sometimes I spend a solid month coughing even after I'm "better".
