Fun fact: NoHo Hank was originally written to be dead after the first episode. But after the first episode was shot they liked him so much they ended up rewriting him back into the show as a recurring character

The characters are all very Human. I think that's the thing you're both noticing, including the way the police speak. None of them are an Archetype (The Tough Guy, the Computer Guy, the Cool Guy, etc.), they're all human people. Weird, offputting, self-centered, EXAGGERATED human people, but nonetheless human people. Sarah Goldberg is fantastic as Sally, and I still say it was criminal that she never won an Emmy for this series. I've actually seen "Doubt", the movie Sally tried to pull a scene from! It's 'okay'. Worth sitting through, but I never felt the need to revisit it afterwards.
these episodes go so fast. I love the small thing of Fuches saying that he always shields / covers barry from the fallout / consequences of the jobs and then we see Barry's reaction from Ryan Madison's dad - assumably Barry's first time seeing someone related to anyone he did / was going to kill. Barry here feels like he may have well been the person who DID kill Ryan and saw the fallout of people close to the victims life.
I would like to mention that Barry corrected Fuches that he saved his dad's life "during (at the time of) Nam'", not "in (in a warzone) Nam'". It was a gag to show that Fuches was exaggerating.

blue eye samurai's 3rd season has already been greenlit and slated for 2028, considering s2 is coming this upcoming january i feel like this is an appropriate time to start it. they avoided the 3 year wait for s2 and there's only one year between 2 and 3!
