So sad that the ladies don't know that they are listening to Zoro!!!!! It still blows my mind that to hear him in JJK.

I love your guys thoughts on the episodes because kirara being trans and hikari dating her being looked down upon along with they're cursed powers by the higher ups wasn't even something I considered

Kirara being the one who explains to Megumi the higher-ups' preference for traditional techniques is not something that previously registered as a deliberate choice and I'm so glad y'all brought that up.

I think the easiest way to sum up the whole kenjaku activating/resurrecting sorcerers would be like this: Kenjaku gave rise to 2 types of sorcerers for his Culling Games, after using Uzumaki and releasing the seals. 1. Type 1 were regular human beings who were not able to use their innate cursed techniques, so kenjaku unlocked the part of their minds that could manipulate cursed energy. Essentially jujutsu sorcerers who were just dormant that his curse mark awoke. Megumi's sister Tsumiki falls in this category. 2. Type 2 were vessels which would be inhabited by sorcerers with whom he's been making deals with for around a 1000 years, assuming what he meant at the end of S2 meant that sukuna was one of those he made a deal with. So old sorcerer souls/spirit that reside in a modern body. Kashimo referencing 400 years ago and knowledge of sukuna implies he was Type 2, a cursed object/spirit/soul inhabiting a modern body. Type 1 and Type 2 are all taking part in the culling games in various colonies.

Yuji going with "who's Satoru Gojo" is the dumbest shit I've ever heard, WHY would he think that would ever work 😂😂😂

You'd be surprised at how many people watched the scene of Megumi's sister being marked, and completely ignored it because they don't have massive brains like you guys 😭

In my experience most of the fandom refers to Kirara as a trans woman. The same comments you heard from Panda in the show are also in the manga, and Kirara is referred to as "they" or "them" for the entire episode, as opposed to "she" or "her." There is a small segment of the fanbase that disagrees with this, mostly because the word "trans" is never specifically used in reference to Kirara, but personally I think the context clues are more than enough. Also the VA for the English dubbed version of Kirara is in fact a trans women.

M
Mo0t · August 29, 2026

They're are definitely corners of the fanbase that reject the idea that Kirara is trans. I also agree with you that the context clues are plenty to get Gege's intention. My theory is that Gege left it technically ambiguous to not make a stir, but still include the representation. It's a shame that it's this way, but progress is slow unfortunately.

Kirara isn't explicitly refered to as trans, but Gege seems to make ostracized/oppressed sorcerers have something that is treated that way in reality as well, mostly the clans treatment of women, which makes Kirara being trans seem very plausible. I've also seen theories of Hakari being of african heritage, mainly due to his hair, which also fit in with the oppressed sroccer often being oppressed people. I always appreciate the diversity of techniques in jjk with the vow of explaining makes it stronger, certain sorcerers like Nanami and Satorou use the vow to overpower their opponent while other like Kirara and Megumi want to keep it secret to keep the opponent thinking, and then there's the goat Todo who gives half-truths to keep his opponent confused. There's also variety in the use of techniques, Nanami, Inumaki and Mei Mei use it as an attack, Satorou, Kirara kind of, and the curse user who fought Megumi and Itadori in Shibuya use it as protection, while Todo (I think there are others) use it to land their normal cursed energy infused hits. And of course all the techniques say a lot about their characters.

Megumi kinda mentions it in episode 2. It’s one sentence but he says that tsumiki doesn’t want to fight in the culling games.

If you remember Megumi's conversation with Sukuna in s1 when Yuji died, he also referred to himself as a cog ("Karma isn't automatic. Evil people can only be judged under the LAW. Jujutsu sorcerers are just another cog in that system of retribution"). Yuji has now adopted the same cog mentality as Megumi after what happened in Shibuya bringing him even closer to Megumi as a friend. This is a direct opposition to being selfish, individualistic and fully aware of self which seems to be the foundation of strong sorcerers like Sukuna and what Jujutsu sorcery seems to require. In s1 despite their different ideologies Yuji and Megumi respected each other's convictions. But now despite the difference in who they save, they both consider themselves "cogs". Megumi sees himself as the cog of karma but Yuji sees himself as the simple cog againt curses. Honestly I don't know if this is the right mentality or not so it's upto the viewers as always to decide.

JJK has the best power system in all of anime to me. Obviously, Hunter x Hunter will always be the GOAT because everything that came after it took some influence from it, but the level of variety Gege was able to create with the powers is insane. I love how each battle is won or lost because of certain rules and conditions instead of random power-ups just because the protagonists are around.

O
OriginalsFX · August 28, 2026

I’ve noticed that in JJK, you almost have to be selfish or even an asshole to really reach your potential. Being altruistic, deeply caring, or having goals that go beyond yourself, like Geto and Yuji did, just doesn’t seem to work in this world. Even the power system, especially Domains, is built around having an overwhelming sense of ego, self-reflection, and understanding of yourself. A Domain is literally you taking your worldview and forcing it onto someone else. That’s why it’s sad seeing Yuji become this way, but I think it was necessary for him to reach the level he needed to. It’s the same with Gojo. He cares about people and has deeper motivations, but he had to find something selfish and internal in himself to become the strongest. And then you have Sukuna, who genuinely doesn’t care about anyone or anything but himself. Most anime power systems would eventually prove that mindset wrong and show that relying on others or caring about people is what truly makes you stronger. JJK never really does that. If anything, it keeps reinforcing the opposite: the more you understand yourself, believe in yourself, and feed your ego, the stronger you become. At the end of the day, ego is probably the most important part of becoming strong in JJK.

D
DontLeaveOnALoss · August 28, 2026

Yep and if you take that idea of selfishness or "life values" all domain expansions are is the manifestation of the characters ego and life philosophy in the real world.
