Thank you both for loving this show as hard as I do. I will forever be grateful for any show with as much as heart and soul as The Bear even with the flaws it may have (which to me are a bit overstated but I could see how season 3 especially could have disappointed people after how strong season 2 is). Beautifully written characters speaking to each other as real humans might actually speak to each other and the show knew how and when to wrap it up. What a show 🙌
Short-ish story... I was living in Chicago in 2008 with a roommate who was working in architecture. The financial crisis hit and that field was absolutely gutted. No one was building anything new of course. We were only a couple years out of college, so of course the younger people were the first to be cut. He was jobless but he was always a guy who threw himself into passions (which gave him character, but just like this show, is a trait could cause some friction at times). One of his passions was cooking, so he went to a culinary school. I was honestly a bit worried he was wasting money since a lot of these schools are maybe a small step up from a scam. The school he chose was a good one though. (Quick aside, the school is called Kendall College, if you are ever in Chicago and want to do a fine dining meal, they do a dining service for $60-70, which is far cheaper than most fine dining in the city, but it's mainly so the students get practical experience. It's a bit of a hidden gem.) While there were no guarantees that came from attending the school, if you put in the work, you could get a lot from it. And he did. He made so many notebooks with detailed drawings, just like in the show. And once he graduated he almost immediately found a job at a Micheline-star restaurant where he had done a stage. He worked for years in the kitchen and became a great chef. Of course, it is a grueling field that pays shit and has no upward mobility, and he had student loans, so once architecture recovered, he went back to that field and he is a major part of a successful firm today. I just wanted to share that because it made this last episode hit so much harder for me when Carmy made this choice. It really is a field you can throw your passion and creativity into, but also provides a lot more stability which is clearly what he needs. Thanks so much to the girls for sticking with this show, it was a really special reaction series. (and in case one of the girls is reading this far... I have to hijack this story to add that Lola claimed after Mad Men that they had now covered all of the 00's Prestige Drama series... but until you do Deadwood, that is simply not true... it's right there in the top 5 with Sopranos, Wire, BB and MM... I make this case because I doubt it ever wins a poll, and would probably do Bear-like numbers, but if I can tempt you with a cross-culture reference, it has a "villain" character that is on par with Askeladd in terms of complexity and charisma)
Adore this show, love the hopeful state it left all of its characters in. Will miss it dearly but will gladly go back to rewatch a bit of that warmth it gave the first time through ❤️
It’s been a fun journey!
Thanks for sticking with this amazing series, you guys have made one of the best reactions I've seen. This episode is truly just a tear fest 😭
Que disfrute de serie, ver esta ultima temporada junto a sus reacciones solo la hizo mejor Asi que vuela alto The Bear
full coming soon? 🥹
Thank you both for finishing this journey. While I agree there was some filler episodes in seasons 3 & 4 I think the team ended this show perfectly. Also Richie’s character arc is my favorite I’ve ever seen in a tv show… Edit: It seems like Carmy never left The Bear. He went on an interview for a job as an intern for an architectural firm and could only talk about cooking. In that moment he realized The Bear is helping fix the broken parts of himself not making them worse. The scene in Sugar’s office shows him still in his apron telling Mikey it’s finally “all good”.
let it rip bears

I really enjoyed The Bear as a show, especially the first two seasons and i think the final season was well done. It was one of the few shows that still delivered annual releases, it’ll be missed. ❤
“You got two” that line BROKE me….he gave her all the credit 😭😭 Thank y’all for championing this show so hard, only decided to press play all those years ago when you all started reacting to it 🫶
