The google drive link doesn’t work for me, it says « Video is being processed » but never actually starts, does anyone have any advices for me ?
You girls after Eva should try Gurren Lagann. It’s like sibling absolutely opposite series made by same studio. Like imagine eva but everything flipped on its head, including like the whole idea of the show is about being optimistic and stuff, instead of that depressing dark themes of eva
The way this show talks about loneliness is one of the most interesting things about it. And as you go through, you really do see how it is that which looms over all of them, just as much if not more than the tangible threat of the Angels. While it does have some other stuff going on, watching kids/teens go through normal experiences is one of the reasons I've been screaming about how you two need to watch Fruits Basket 2019. It will never win a poll but I know you would adore it -- great female lead, wonderful characters and relationships, it will make you laugh and cry and it has very pretty music and animation.
i really hope you girls will watch Gurren Lagann after Evangelion
Poor hedgehogs :(
Depression - the anime. But also so much more.
This show was 30 years ahead of it's time talking about the male loneliness epidemic. Haha. Agree with the some of the other comments that identify the Hedgehog's Dilemma as one of the central ideas that the show returns to many times.
I think episode 8-9 should for sure be watched back to back.
There are a lot of anime’s with children going through highschool experiences. The problem is that nobody in this community really recommends them lol and if they do those shows never win any polls.
if you want a show about kids going to high school and having experiences I suggest either Kimi ni todoke or k on, 2 of my favorite slice of life anime
After all the despair of current shows, Milena needs another Bocchi the Rock, a highschool comedy, maybe mixed with a bit of romance on an episodic format... Milena needs Kaguya-sama Love is War 🫣
After Takopi after JJK in September! :D
Just watch Takopi after Evangelion or JJK. Lola deserves her anime about a elementary school kid trying to make friends! And Takopi fans made Pluto reactions possible! :D
🤣🤣🤣
This episode also introduces the Hedgehog's Dilemma, a famous philosophical parable proposed by the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer in his 1851 work Parerga and Paralipomena. Schopenhauer writes: "One cold winter's day, a number of porcupines huddled together quite closely in order through their mutual warmth to prevent themselves from being frozen. But they soon felt the effect of their quills on one another, which made them again move apart. [...]" The porcupines repeatedly move closer and farther apart until they discover a distance that allows them to tolerate one another without causing excessive pain. Schopenhauer used this parable as a metaphor for human relationships people naturally seek companionship and emotional closeness, yet intimacy also exposes them to rejection, conflict, and emotional hurt. Ritsuko invokes this idea to explain Shinji's personality and his difficulty connecting with others. The Hedgehog's Dilemma becomes one of Evangelion's central psychological themes throughout the entire series.
This episode finally provides some background on the Second Impact, the global catastrophe that occurred 15 years before the story began. According to the official explanation given to the public, it was caused by a meteor strike in Antarctica. The disaster melted much of the polar ice, drastically altered the world’s climate, caused massive flooding, and triggered political instability and wars across the globe. Parts of the original Tokyo were left submerged as a result. it's called "Second Impact" because the "First" would be the one that wiped out the dinosaurs. However, we already know that this is not the full story, since it was mentioned in the previous episode in Gendo's meeting that an Angel appeared 15 years ago before Sachiel. More details about the event are revealed later in the series, so I’ll leave it there for now. The Angel in this episode is Shamshel, the Fourth Angel. Its name is derived from Shamsiel (or Shamshiel), one of the Watchers, a group of fallen angels described in the apocryphal Book of Enoch who descended to Earth and revealed forbidden knowledge to humanity. The name is commonly interpreted as meaning "Sun of God" or "Mighty Sun of God," reflecting the angel's association with the heavens. Enoch states: "Shamsiel [taught] the signs of the sun, and Sariel the course of the moon." Shamsiel is therefore associated with the Sun, celestial knowledge, and the transmission of heavenly secrets to mankind. But this symbolism doesn't really have any relevancy for the plot. As explained in the Episode 1 comments, Evangelion does not use religious references in a strictly theological sense. Hideaki Anno instead borrows names and imagery from Jewish, Christian, and apocryphal traditions to create a mythological atmosphere. The fight also marks the first major use of the Progressive Knife, one of the Evangelions' standard close-range weapons. Unlike a conventional blade, it vibrates at a high frequency to increase its cutting power, allowing an Eva to penetrate targets that would otherwise be extremely difficult to damage.
Those thumbnail faces are Evangelion thumbnail faces lmao
