I love how they have adapted Chopper. A lot of fans speculated how they will do it. Some people thought about a child in a costume or realistic CGI, but they choose this plush CGI, which is really cool.

The Anime explained that Luffy couldn't move around with his Devil Fruit ability while he was carrying Nami because it would be too rough for her. He was trying to be as delicate as possible because of her condition. Flinging himself up the mountain wouldn't be a good idea.

I loooooove me some Sanji love, he truly is the kindest, and i like what they've been doing with the scenes of him smoking after stressful situations.

Sanji became my favorite character in the live action. He is awesome, much better than in the anime.

One characteristic of Luffy that I feel is toned down in the live action is how selfish he is. He obviously isn't selfish in a cruel or malicious way, but in moments like this, you can see that side of him more clearly, and I love the contrast between his leadership and Vivi's because of that. On one hand, you have a princess who was forced to mature at a young age for the sake of her country. On the other, you have an orphan raised by pirates who clings to his dreams and the people he loves with everything he has. Because of their upbringings, both of their leaderships are filled with compassion. The difference is that Luffy doesn't want to lose anything in the process of protecting what he cares about (ngl, I love that about him), not even his pride, whereas Vivi understands that sometimes you need to leave yourself behind for the sake of the things you want to protect. I don't think the live action portrayed this perfectly (at least in my opinion), but this moment does a great job of showing how much growing Luffy still has to do as a captain.

I think they already finished the season so I don't think this is a spoiler: regarding why Kureha is called a witch, this isn't really explained in the show, it's only said in a tangent, but she's very greedy, she helps people (in the anime we actually see her in the village treating someone), but she will ask for a big payment, and she is very aggressive with her patients (we see a bit of it in this episode with how she holds a knife to Namis throat). So her medicine is fine, but people call her a witch because of her attitude. Regarding why Luffy didn't stretch: the whole climb is actually much longer and complicated in the anime, they encounter multiple obstacles that make the journey longer, but the main reason he doesn't use his powers is because hes carrying Nami and he's worried about the strain on her. Basically what you girls said on the discussion, but it's directly addressed in the anime (someone else may be able to explain it better than me)

It's funny seeing them point out plot holes in the show knowing that almost everything they point out or are confused about is much better explained in the source material. I love the live action but the cuts they have to do to fit those arcs into such a small amount of episodes really takes away from how well written the story is. I really hope they get to watch the anime remake! Even though the live action is good it can never match Oda's writing

yeah, the cuts and the alternate story lines are mostly good for the constraints of the show but can obviously feel pretty unnatural. my biggest dissapointment for this specific episode is that they got rid of the rabbits :(

Fun fact, Jamie Lee Curtis aka the mom from The Bear is a fan of One Piece and was talking with the show runner about playing Doctorine. Unfortunately she wasn't able to do it because of her schedule. Although Katey Sagal is still amazing casting for the part.

I was wondering if they were familiar with Sons of Anarchy or Married With Children. Dollars to donuts Jamie Lee Curtis pops up at some point. She is apparently like a legit fan from back back in the day early on in the run of the story. Pretty cool.
