Something worth noting is the futures of all 5 of the students we are introduced to in this arc, and how they all encompass the different tragic fates that await youth who are subjected to violence and death. Yu Haibara, the most naive of the group, dies. Geto, the most idealistic, falls to the dark side. Shoko and Nanami are verging on apathetic and stoic even as they crawl on in this world of jujutsu, trying to do what little they can. And Gojo is essentially a child who never grew up, and seems more at ease hanging out with high schoolers even as an adult. You can see clearly why Gojo and Nanami are so insistent on ensuring that kids get to live out their childhood.

Like me, you seem to love the charles xavier/magneto dynamic as explored in arcane with silco/vander and now this show with gojo/geto

some context for the "show me your blushing face once more" lyric, in the manga geto blushes at gojos last words before he kills him, but the movie adaptation didn't include this ☹️

A

it's so cool you noticed the similarities between Haibara and Yuji, back in season 1 when Gojo introduced Nanami and Yuji there was a line about how Gojo thought they would get along 😢

Isaac · June 6, 2026

Something that needs to be addressed is the gradual dehumanization of Gojo by others. It festers as his strength grows. Nanami, in his mourning, "can't we just leave it all to him". Geto's iconic question to Gojo in Shinjuku. Even much of the audience participates in "Can't Gojo take care of this?". It's good writing and shows us how Gojo becomes a concept or a means to an end. Much of his personhood is discarded because he has reached such a level of power, and he has almost no one left he can relate to. It is a deep scar to have someone he valued, like Geto, question who he is like that

b
bondbond53 · June 6, 2026

Yup absolutely. Gojo's trauma gets constantly brushed off by both people in the show and viewers. You just can't help but love this man for how he does decide to act despite his circumstances

b

Among all the chaos and dread of his depression Geto finds in himself to answer to Haibara's question about bringing him either salty or sweet snacks from his trip – 'Satoru will probably have some too, so maybe something sweet'

Yukis talk with geto is very important for more understanding about cursed energy and heavenly packs. It’s something to go back on when you have time.

A
Anthony Bednarz · June 5, 2026

Also, the line Gojo drops when he first uses his domain expansion, "When given everything, you can't do anything" is pretty important after this episode.

Gucci Pucci · June 5, 2026

What a show man. People can say what they want but JJK is in my top 10 OOT , maybe even top 5, and I’m glad to see you‘ve been enjoying the ride this much 🫡

A
Anthony Bednarz · June 5, 2026

I am Yuki's strongest defender. People always like to blame her for steering Geto the wrong way, but really the only thing she said was that he has to figure out his own convictions, which is true. Trying to force her own convictions on him wouldn't have held off his demons for long.

D
Danny · June 5, 2026

She spoke the truth. Thats really it. She said if all of humanity was sorcerers then there wont be anymore spirits. I think one way or the other Geto wouldve found out. Its a whole chain of events that led to this state. But Yuki being very hands off about things definitely played a part.

After watching this arc, a lot of things Gojo does or says get re-contextualized in such devastating ways. Asking Megumi why he wants to protect Yuji in ep 1, him being so excited about Yuji moving in so Megumi would have company, the line he says to jogo when they’re inside their domain expansion: “it’s ironic, isn’t it? When granted everything, you can’t do anything”. And I could go on and on, but Gojo’s character is so carefully written it’s insane, and the parallels between Geto and Gojos dynamic with Megumi and Yuji’s… I could write a whole bible about it, but we’ve all suffered enough today lol😭😭

n
nellie · June 5, 2026

I don't even know what to say bro this arc breaks me every single time. I love Geto so much... Thanks for reading the intro/outro That was absolutely miserable. They make me sick. Now this upcoming arc... I don't know if I'm ready to rewatch

b
beannie · June 5, 2026

I think Gojo and Geto’s story is very tragic, but the fact that so much love and beauty came also from their splitting… makes me think how beautifully written this story is. They both decided to work towards the betterment of jujutsu society, but while Gojo stayed within the system to work bottom-up (fostering the future generation), Geto decided to work from the outside and target what he thought was "the root of the problem." It is ironic how Geto left despite his almost unwavering faith in the jujutsu system and how gojo stayed despite his general pessimism and indifference towards what jujutsu stood for. All it took was one event to change their lives, their shared trauma. Gojo becoming a teacher (Geto guided him towards a right path just like he does with the kids now), and Geto becoming a father (making a family who protect each other no matter what, since thinking he lost Gojo, and losing both haibara and riko was beyond painful) will always be so dear to me, because they’re always holding onto the company and hope they shared with each other, I find it beautiful even, despite them ending on bad terms, they kept space in their lives to be reminded of the other.

The first shot of our Opening depicts Gojo taking a nap, in which he dreams of his lost friend as well as the bright points of the youth that was taken from them. We close with Gojo being awoken from his nap by his students, the future he is placing his hopes on.

When reading the manga I’d imagined the Satosugu break up to be gloomy despite it being summer then when we watch the movie we get Gojo’s pov of it and everything is dark, slow and out of focus except Suguru. This episode mostly being Geto’s pov and it being bright and fast and the music playing is intense but not sad because to him it’s him looking at the person who matters most and then deciding to free himself and live by his ideals. It’s horrible thinking about how they both remember it so differently. Geto saying no one else knows what curses taste like then we have Yuji who eats cursed objects. Then the Junpei and Riko deaths. They both have their little trios. Megumi and Gojo both making the decision to let them live despite it being a dangerous selfish choice. Geto and Yuji parallels gut me.

G

“it was either get it three hours earlier or have a thumbnail” They’re calling it the easiest decision of all time.

T
Tyra M. · June 5, 2026

On crunchy roll they compiled all of the hidden inventory/premature death episode arc and labeled it as a “movie” in between season 2 & 3. The cool part is at the beginning there is a jujustroll with gojo, geto, and shoko. Also at the end the animators put in a bunch of animated images of all jujutsu high students hanging out at school before geto left. It’s so cute but fair warning it will bring you to tears.

B
Brakthir · June 5, 2026

I'm not sure if you girls noticed, but Gojo's eyes were red rimmed when he opened them at the end. That to me always indicates he was teary or crying when remembering/dreaming about the past.

Nonam · June 5, 2026

Haven't had time to watch yet but I wanted to say, I just really like how Geto's arc is paced. It isn't just one event that flips him from good to evil like so many authors would do, but rather a whole mess of contributing factors pressing him further and further until he finally snaps. Systemic issues, loneliness, unaddressed trauma. And the impact on Gojo from his own near-death experience sending him spiraling in a different direction (that is, straight up) as well. Breaks my heart watching him show off the obsessive level of work he's been putting into his barriers so no one can ever take him off-guard again. The author wrote these episodes so well. Sorry, just needed to gush, looking forward to watching!

I
Infeight · June 6, 2026

Peak of jjk was hidden inventory. Shibuya also has some good character moments despite being action focused. But I think as the strory goes on, it concetrates less on the established characters and instead adds bunch of new ones, hence there is no time to develop all of them properly.

S

Eldin · June 5, 2026

An interesting detail that doesn't get discussed often is how Geto mentions "Nobody knows what Cursed Spirits tastes like", but he avoids acknowledging the parallel with Toji, since Toji used to swallow the cursed spirit to hide his weapons.

D
David Tagle · June 5, 2026

I don’t think it would make sense or even matter. While true it’s extremely different, Geto is literally consuming and absorbing them constantly. Tojis case is just way different

O
OriginalsFX · June 5, 2026

Gojo is the best representation of an overpowered character in fiction in my opinion.

O
OriginalsFX · June 5, 2026

It confuses me when people say jjk has no story and it is just fighting. Yes there is a lot of action, but it usually serves a purpose and they do so much work developing the characters before they fight so that even if it is fighting you care so much about the people fighting that it usually hits hard.

K
Kendall Roy · June 5, 2026

"There is no curse more twisted than love." Satoru Gojo. The fact that Gojo was so focused on being strong and didn't realize his best friend was depressed is heartbreaking, but what could he do? He was just a child and carrying that weight wouldn't be fair. But the fact that he transformed all of that into a desire to protect children puts me at peace. His speech about only being able to save those who are ready to be saved and then cutting to the scene where he picks up Megumi is one of the most impactful in the show for me. There we know that he won't allow Megumi or any other child from Jujutsu High School to go down the same tragic path that Geto did.

N
Nikholas Enderson · June 5, 2026

this is the best episode on jjk for me, its so sad and amazing the way that they showed us geto and gojo's past

T
Theo Santader · June 5, 2026

Hidden Inventory means 懐玉 ("harboring jade"), referring to a person possessing great talent (It can be honestly any of Gojo, Geto and even Toji but it most probably is Gojo). The chapters about Geto's downward spiral in the manga (Premature Death) mean 玉折 ("the jade breaks"), referring to the premature death of a virtuous individual. Literally anyone who is a part of this arc goes through a "premature death" in the literal sense or in some other way. Nanami and his classmate, Toji, Gojo who had to die and leave his youth behind, Geto's spirit and judgment which were broken, Riko and Kuroi and even Shoko and the Principal. Adult Gojo wanting to protect the student's youth makes a little more sense. There are a lot of people like Geto in our lives. People who are relied on because of their sound judgement but despite helping everyone eventually crumble because they "bottle up" everything inside themselves and people fail to notice. It is probably intentional and ironic that Geto's technique lets him "store" curses inside him and Gojo's technique doesn't let anyone touch him. Geto's change wasn't one individual or event's fault. It was a gradual occurrence due to cumulative effect of many things but I'm sure Gojo and Principal blame themselves a lot.

Something I realized is the genius of how Geto and Gojo’s powers work alongside their development in this arc. For Geto this arc emphasizes how unpleasant it is for him to swallow curses, multiple times comparing it to eating shit and vomit. Curses are formed from the negative emotions of humans so both physically and metaphorically he is forced to take the absolute worst of humanity, every single day, over and over again he has to digest the deepest and darkest and most disgusting dregs of their souls. His friends die, those two girls get persecuted, it’s revolting to him every time, until it completely wears down his logical understanding of why humans deserve to be protected or even exist in the first place when from his perspective they only cause him and his friends pain and misery. Meanwhile Gojo has ascended so beyond everybody else that he has a natural distance to these kinds of moral dilemmas. His power is that he is untouchable, I mean he literally automates his infinity to filter out toxins in this episode, so he can’t truly be tainted by the repeated darkness and disgustingness of the world they live in as sorcerers, meanwhile Geto is forced to ingest all of it. This is also a whole other thing for Gojo and his character where his power leads to him being sort of isolated as a person- viewed as a tool and weapon. “The Strongest”. His goal ends up becoming to train the next generation to be as strong as possible TOGETHER so they don’t have to go through what he did with Geto, where they grew apart and one got left behind in the darkness- this is why he tells Megumi he wants him to become as strong as him one day.

k
killezio3 killezio3 · June 5, 2026

Toxins is precisely the thing Gojo said in this episode he cannot filter out. But your point still stands
