It was the president of America not thracia, the beat bear it’s just something the president used as an ai to fight other countries with ai like thracia at the time, America attacked thracia so that they were the only one to have such a powerful ai, not everything needs to be explained, this is the story of these 7 robots and pluto, goji is not just a random plot twist it’s literally talked ab from ep 1 and kind of every ep from there, and the president critic that he wanted to help his citizen like what? He wasn’t trump…he’s a character like all the others with his motives, do you actually think urasawa was trying to say he’s justified bc he cared ab americans, also we found that abullah was a full robot last ep rewatch it, you say you don’t it to be spelled out but it kinda seems like it. 8 Hours of pluto did more than 8 seasons shows for me

I think Witch Hat Atelier would be cool🙂‍↕️

86 is an absolute must (theme wise is up your alley and it is very character driven) , Dororo is found family and iconic, banana fish is right up your alley, angst and emotions and trauma all together. Moriarty the patriot (based on sherlock holmes, but focused on the antagonist) is very underrated and super intriguing. Sk8 the infinity for some very lovely teenage boys angst and lovely tropes. The witch from mercury for some lesbian representation in science fiction! :D

Omg sk8 the infinity mentioned ! This anime is so lovely they will love the characters so much

I think Orb would be the best next option. I see lots of similarities to Vinland Saga, and it is right up there next to it in terms of quality.

H
HeavenlyR · May 26, 2026

Hoping Witch Hat Atelier is on the poll, I'll also take A Place Further than the Universe

T
Trumpet Sounds · May 26, 2026

A place further than the Universe also a good option to put in the poll, but I will still vote for Orb

M
Markub El Jaden · May 26, 2026

If the next show HAD to be short then I vote for Takopi, if 24 eps is okay then I would love reactions to Evangelion.

J
Jeffrey Navia · May 26, 2026

A Place Further Than the Universe is a perfect short series and I think it's right up your alley. Please consider it.

We also shouldn't forget about the summer hikaru died

S
Shaik Mateen · May 26, 2026

how come no one recommends comedies like "Saiki K"?

R
Robert Dirk H. · May 26, 2026

We are looking for an anime which we will watch once a week, so Saiki K is way too long.

S
SagaciousLyra · May 26, 2026

If you want another short healing anime like bocchi/frieren I'd suggest Skip and Loafer. It has one of the most charming main characters in anime, you can't not love her.

S
Sekraan · May 26, 2026

Good rec. It is one of the most wholesome and healing anime out there imo - good therapy replacement show - and short at 12 episodes.

m
mundanelotus · May 26, 2026

Maybe one day we'll get a 20th Century Boys anime adaptation

T
Trumpet Sounds · May 26, 2026

I would like to see the reaction of Orb Movement of the Earth. Very meaningful and touching story based on true story.

m

V
Vitor · May 26, 2026

Many people are commenting that Orb would be a good anime to see next and I do agree. Orb is great. But maybe it would good to watch a 12 ep more "chill" anime for a change of pace. A place further than the universe, Journal with Witch, and Girls Band Cry are some great options on that regard.

S
Synyster · May 26, 2026

OMG!!! A Place Further Than the Universe is my hidden gem!! I rarely see people recommend it. Such a cute and wholesome show

T
Tsunemori Kiriko · May 26, 2026

I'm surprised no one mentioned EVA in the comments, since it actually got the most votes in Robert's straw poll. I really hope you can put EVA in the next poll 🥺

R
Robert Dirk H. · May 26, 2026

I think the next poll should be: - Orb - Eighty Six - Takopi - Erased - Dororo https://imgur.com/a/lm-reactions-short-anime-poll-2026-results-ynKzHkB The new shows will get more seasons. Dandadan, The Summer Hikaru Died, Made in Abyss, Skip and Loafer and My Dress-Up Darling too. Evangelion and Steins;Gate are older but popular anime, I would prefer to watch them in the Long Anime Slot. The other anime are great options too of course, but I have the feeling that my selection is balanced and will not have a clear winner from the start like JJK in the last poll. Other interesting options: - Odd Taxi - Banana Fish - Psycho Pass (Season 1) - Madoka Magica - Serial Experiments Lain - Ping Pong - Sonny Boy - Tatami Galaxy - Rainbow Nisha

J
James Long · May 26, 2026

Robert, betraying yourself by not putting A Place Further Than the Universe in those options. And, as I have said before, I would like to see Witch Hat Atelier in the poll options. I know your aversion to not putting new shows in, but I think having one among the other options would be good.

B
Brandonsuplex · May 26, 2026

I think the Abullah/Goji aspect of the story has more to do with Dr. Tenma than Abullah. Tenma created 2 "perfect" robots, and saved 2 lives, by flooding them with 9 billion personalities and then waking them with feelings of hatred. Those two robots were the Goji/Abullah and Atom. One turned out good one bad. It's to contrast the characters. Also, similar to Dr. Tenma from Monster always choosing to save a life.

M
Maria Silva · May 26, 2026

ORB anime next oh my god like I want this so bad

Please answer this! A lot of your full Vimeo reactions say "Private video. You don't have permission to watch". For example, the finale of Better Call Saul can't be viewed. I'd understand if this was only a problem with old episodes, but Mad Men 4x7 and Andor 1x10 from just a few months ago are also unavailable. This has been a consistent problem since you switched from Google Drive to Vimeo. I joined Patreon intending to watch your full reactions to some of my favorite TV episodes, and now I'm finding out they're not even available, so it feels like I'm wasting money. Could you explain why these videos aren't available? Surely you aren't making them private yourselves? If it's possible, I'd really appreciate it if you could reupload or restore access to these episodes (and many others), and I also think it may be worth reconsidering the video hosting service, because this is ridiculous. I have no idea why you decided to change from Google Drive to Vimeo, but it hasn't been a good decision for your supporters!

“the full is coming soon, also we know some full reactions are missing, we’re waging a war with vimeo but we’ll reupload them in the next couple of days and replace the links” They posted this under their JJK0 reaction

B
Brandonsuplex · May 26, 2026

My interpretation to the president of thracia's reaction at the end is that we are witnessing a man lie. Just because he is saying it through tears doesn't make it true. Of course an evil, selfish man would cry out in pity at the destruction his hands wrought if it met consequences for himself. Every American president has taken the office of a machine much more powerful than themselves, you can't be a "good" man and keep that machine operating, but you can lie to yourself about it.

Sponsoring for Orb on the poll. It will fill the void you guys are feeling due to no Vinland Saga S3

R
Robert Dirk H. · May 25, 2026

Great reaction! What a fun watch! In general, I only have two problems with Pluto: First, Thracia’s AI, the teddy bear, is revealed way too late in the anime. The manga revealed it much earlier, and far better. I think they were aiming for a plot-twist villain in the anime, but it didn’t work for me. And second, Uran. She is a great character, but I feel like she is in Pluto mainly because she was Atom’s sister in Astro Boy. It would have been nice if she had a slightly bigger role in Pluto. But to be honest, if you ever watch the two episodes of Astro Boy that the anime Pluto is based on, you will realize how much Urasawa elevated the story. Pluto shouldn’t just be valued on its own, but also for the homage it pays to Astro Boy and its creator Tezuka. It’s just a great piece of work and Studio M2 did a fantastic job adapting it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEg0SUL95_8

Brandonsuplex · May 25, 2026

Remember this was written in response to the "weapons of mass destruction" lie america used to go to war in the middle east post 9/11. Allegorically, the teddy bear, an Ai super computer, isn't really a character but a representaion of the endless death march toward total entropy pushed upon the world by America's evil empire.

Of the four anime series based on Naoki Urasawa's works, you have already seen two . The remaining two are 'Yawara!' (1986) and 'Master Keaton' (1998). 'Yawara!' is a long-running romantic comedy about a young woman dedicated to judo, spanning 124 episodes. In contrast, 'Master Keaton' is a heartwarming drama consisting of 39 episodes. It follows the life of an archaeologist who is also a former soldier and an insurance investigator. Most of its stories are self-contained, featuring an atmosphere reminiscent of 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.' In Japan, Urasawa's fans are often deeply divided between those who consider 'Monster' his best work and those who prefer 'Master Keaton.' I recommend 'Future Boy Conan .'

M
MJ · May 25, 2026

Unfortunately not a urasawa series but I’d highly recommend Erased as the next short anime show. It’s only 12 episodes and it’s very good. Another series I’d highly recommend is Orb On The Movements Of The Earth. In my opinion it’s one of the best anime’s that have recently came out. It’s 25 episodes and it’s finished.

B
Brakthir · May 26, 2026

I'll vote for Orb but I have issues with Erased.

J
Jack SV · May 25, 2026

Also at this point you are caught up with the Urasawa that it was adapted into anime so far.. I know he has 20 century boys and Billy bat but I still haven’t got the time to read those mangas but I’m pretty they are good as these pieces of work. I know this won’t be next but hopefully at some point you girls get to react to Neon genesis Evangelion.. it’s a very happy anime ;D

R
Robert Dirk H. · May 25, 2026

That Abullah was a robot was kind of obvious. He always mentioned that he had been badly wounded in the war and that almost his entire body had been replaced with robotic parts, but every time we see his flashback, he isn’t hurt.

J
Jack SV · May 25, 2026

Rooting for “Journal With Witch” to be included in the poll. It’s such an emotionally delicate show that I think you will love it.

K
Kendall Roy · May 25, 2026

Again: It was a pleasure watching another Urasawa anime with you all. Unfortunately, 20th Century Boys, his best work (yes, he managed to do something better than Monster), unfortunately still doesn't have an anime adaptation.

Y
Yoshi444 · May 25, 2026

The next and only remaining anime based on a manga written by Urasawa is his debut work, Yawara! It's a sports comedy anime that aired from 1989 to 1992 and has 124 episodes. It's very old and I think most of his fans don't even know it exists, so I doubt it'll ever win a poll. I haven't seen it either. PS: It's time for Steins;Gate :P

r
refo44 · May 25, 2026

The next "Urasawa" show is obviously Steins;Gate 😜! Pluto was peak, an absolute masterpiece. Hopefully someday we’ll finally get an adaptation of 20th Century Boys into anime 🙏 but unfortunately it’s unlikely in the near future. There is already a live action adaptation but I wouldn’t recommend it. But maybe you could give another chance to "Dororo" from Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Astro Boy. Pluto is actually a darker reimagining of one of the Astro Boy arcs. Urasawa grew up loving Tezuka’s work and wanted to reinterpret that story with a more mature, psychological, and noir-like tone as he said

R
Robert Dirk H. · May 25, 2026

I still would prefer to watch Steins;Gate in the Long Anime Slot after JJK. It has 25 episodes and the sequel another 25 episodes... I like your idea with Dororo by Tezuka. Would be great for them to watch another story from him.

U

R
Robert Dirk H. · May 25, 2026

And before I watch the reaction: We finally finished Pluto. Great story. It’s not the best story from Urasawa. I would put it at #4 or #5 in a ranking of his works, with 20th Century Boys at #1 and Monster at #2, but it still has a lot of interesting topics and is such a cool homage to Astro Boy. To answer a few motivations: The president wants Thracia to stay the most powerful country in the world. He sees the strongest robots from other nations as possible threats to Thracia’s future. So from his point of view, their deaths are useful because they remove competition and keep Thracia on top. When he gets information that Persia is also developing advanced robots, even though they are just for environmental transformation, he sees that as a threat to his nation and starts a war by pushing public opinion that Persia is developing weapons of mass destruction. Roosevelt, the teddy bear AI, pushed the president to that point. It’s only explained in the manga, but she is the most advanced AI in Thracia and was built as an advisor in the background for the president. She was placed in a body unable to move, so she could be placed in the background of conferences without anyone noticing. She manipulates the president and the war with Persia for her own agenda. She has her own interests, which are not for the people in the world or even in Thracia itself, but just for herself. The parallels to certain billionaires in the US are hard to ignore. She doesn’t know if the war will end up with Persia trying to get revenge and killing a lot of humans, but it doesn’t matter. She keeps pushing the president in dangerous directions and simply hopes the outcome benefits her. The line from her to the president "But you will be my slave from now on" hits harder today in my opinion. I’m really excited for the next anime we will watch together! I’m happy that we were able to get a reaction to Pluto. I hope you include Takopi in the next poll. Without their fans, this wouldn’t have been possible. Also, you probably want "some kind of happy show" next and Takopi would obviously be the perfect choice! Here the results from the short poll again: https://imgur.com/a/lm-reactions-short-anime-poll-2026-results-ynKzHkB

R
Robert Dirk H. · May 25, 2026

I just checked and there are only Master Keaton and Yawara!. I have never heard of them. He wrote them long before Monster, so I’m not sure how good they are. Let’s just hope we get an anime adaptation of 20th Century Boys, a story about fascism. That would be awesome! I love this fan-made trailer, which uses one of Urasawa’s own songs, written and performed by him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XvfZG642HY And yes, Urasawa plays guitar and has released some songs. I think he just decides to be and do whatever he wants :D

A
AP · May 25, 2026

Welp, as far as Urasawa anime adaptations left to watch... there's the Master Keaton OVA or Yawara, but probably not worth reacting to either of those... Really hoping for a 20th Century Boys or Billy Bat adaptation some day. Glad y'all checked Pluto out and enjoyed! 🙂
