is there any format that we can come up with that would convince them to watch one piece anime? like one pace or watching 6 to 8 episodes a week? because each episode is 24mins itd be like watching a normal tv show episode with 2 episodes back to back? idk i just hope we could convince them to watch the anime somehow as it is one of best :)

I agree, they should watch the anime.

I like your father-son theories! :D Here the ages: Monkey D. Luffy - 17 years Monkey D. Garp - 76 years (Guy in the dark) - 53 years Gol D. Roger - 53 years (during his execution, he would be 75 years old now) Smoker - 34 years Buggy - 37 years Shanks - 37 years Zoro - 19 years Usopp - 17 years Sanji - 19 years

Why make a comment like this? Why can you people not help yourselves and act like you're not directly spoiling things when you do stuff like this? The show did not tell them this, stop telling them things they have not been told by the show, your coy little "ooooh wow good theory guys, here's [information that hasn't been told that directly informs them on their theory]" is obnoxious and is exactly the same as telling them.

Great episode! I love how they’ve woven Loguetown into the Grand Line storyline. This is definitely going to be a lot of fun. And in my opinion, the live-action adaptation is the better format for you. Sure, the emotional moments work better in the anime, but the anime itself has a lot of issues that the live-action version doesn’t have, whether it’s the slower pace or the annoying fanservice elements. WIT Studio is producing the remake, and it will likely improve a lot of things, so once several seasons of it are available, it could probably be used as a recap for the final season of the live-action series. The remake seems to be progressing very slowly, likely because it aims for very high quality. In 2027, they will adapt the first 6 episodes of the live-action series, and by 2029, we’ll have the adaptation up to Season 2, Episode 2 (which means 4 more episodes of the live-action series). The remake will likely take another 10-15 years to adapt everything, unless WIT Studio dedicates itself exclusively to One Piece and speeds up production.

For fun, if you want a taste of the anime without the time commitment, Netflix has a movie called "Episode of East Blue" that's a super condensed retelling of the arcs from season 1 of the live action.

I think that scene where they left Loguetown was just poorly edited, Luffy and the dude in the cloak weren’t looking at each other. That dude was on top of the mountain watching the set sail from afar, I think Luffy was just looking back towards the town in general. That look y’all took for recognition was probably the actor trying to look baffled lol. I think a fair amount of people thought that Luffy was staring at the dude but he wasn’t.

I think it's fair not to remember much since it's been so long! I tried to write a little list of things you already saw in season 1/reminders to help you out, hope that's okay! 1. Luffy is 17, character ages aren't stated outright but it's supposed to be the same as the manga so all the Straw hats are teenagers (tho I like to think the others are in their early 20s in the show) 2. He was seemingly by himself growing up, at least during the time he met Shanks. We know after meeting Shanks he was with his grandpa but it's not said where grandpa was previously and there's no information on his parents. It is implied he's an orphan by other characters. 3. All Devil Fruits are weak to the sea and (as it was revealed now) seastone. 4. The organization you saw now with the flower girl was introduced in the first episode of season 1 when Zoro declined their invitation to join. Their name was already revealed but it will be repeated soon so no worries. 5. There are 3 factions that we know of. Pirates, marines, and the warlords of the sea: pirates that have been pardoned by the government and work for the marines like Mihawk. Their bounties have been cancelled. This will be important later but it's not re-explained so I think it was important to remind you, I've seen some reactors be confused because they didn't remember that detail. I think that's all that's really important :) I'm so happy that you are back in the one piece world, and I'm excited for you to watch this season, it was really good!

-DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU ARE A LIVE ACTION ONLY WATCHER- . . . . . . . . I would edit out the part about Luffy's age. The live action show is now intentionally trying to make people think Roger is Luffy's dad, drawing emphasis to LA-only watchers that that is not possible is robbing the watchers of the narrative the show is trying to give them. Not singling you out in particular, but if you're talking to LA-only people you should not be giving info that points otherwise, only tell them what the show has told them not what you know from the manga.

beannie · May 22, 2026

This is not a spoiler since the author himself has said it a million times and very early on the series, but the one piece is not the friends we made along the way lmao, the one piece is an actual thing, a treasure. And in the live action they have not stated if luffy’s grandpa is father of his mom or his dad, so idk if that’s a theory you girls crafted back in S1, I can’t remember lol😭

N
Naya37 · May 22, 2026

yay Ive been so excited for you two to react to this!! Really enjoyed the theory crafting in the discussion and yes, the whole "Garp has a daughter who ran away with a pirate and thats why he hates pirates" thing was absolutely just a theory you came up. That is not something that was said last season

b
beannie · May 22, 2026

The live action is a great show as its own thing in my opinion, but as an adaptation… I can a 100% assure you that the anime is exponentially better, specially when it comes to story telling and portraying characters. That’s probably why you didn’t see as much hype in the comments imo. You might not believe this, but one piece for me will always be too short, and from the point you girls are and with the adaptation you’re consuming, I truly just sound insane right now lmao, but this is one of the most beautiful and intricate worlds I’ve seen in media, its also my current favorite anime, ever. And omg, the fact that this is a tailor-made story for you girls… it has absolutely everything you love about characters, plots, dynamics, etc. But you lowkey won’t ever get to watch it😭 it really pains me lmao, but it’s been years since I’ve accepted that fate so it’s ok ig lol. I really hope you girls give a chance to the remake at least!! I’m almost sure that you would like it more than the LA, cause some aspects of this story are very hard to translate to real life

b
beannie · May 22, 2026

This season of the LA has some great moments and characters that I’m sure you’re gonna enjoy!! So I’m very excited for your reactions to it too🥳

n
nawaf · May 22, 2026

i mean yeah the live action is good but its not even close to what the anime brings its just completely different vibes and feelings the one peace remake would be perfect if you react to it next year its gonna be peak

Wow, thank you for this.

Daniel Molina · May 21, 2026

Yes there is a remake of the anime releasing next year from WIT studio (original AoT & Vinland S1) with better pacing and animation. I love One Piece, seen the entire anime and have been caught up on the manga. The anime is horrendously paced, one chapter per episode is borderline unwatchable at times, so I think a remake can fix a lot of that and bring in new fans. Fingers crossed its a good adaptation and can continue into the later arcs that suffer from the worse pacing issues.

M
Maria · May 22, 2026

I really hope they give it a chance!

Luffy is 17 🤭

m
miloo fernandez · May 21, 2026

They should watch the One Piece anime with a pace of two episodes at a time they'd progress quickly and have material for a long time

J
Jack SV · May 21, 2026

Nah.. that would take decades and wouldn’t be fair for people who don’t care about OP lol
