@flubbedsquid the reason Space Racer can't just shoot every viltrumite is the fact he can't actually hit most of them. we already know that Space Racer was defated in a 1v1 with Omniman in the past, and we see Anissa dodge his shots at least twice in this episode. and if he struggles with those viltrumites, then there is no chance that he would ever be able to get a hit on Thragg, who is shown to be moving and reacting at speeds that are 2-3 times faster than everyone else

From what I understand, space racer has to be super careful when he fires the infinity ray because if there's anything behind the target, he can't fire. It's the INFINITY ray, it doesn't stop, so that collateral damage he has to avoid includes even distant solar systems. Basically he can only fire it when he's aiming literally between the stars, so he doesn't risk blowing up an entire star and killing who knows how many people. How does this make sense? It doesn't, just roll with it.
