subbed again for this - so happy to be back watching you girls, just needed a reason!
This show could be a cure for my Westeros indigestion. All I know of these two was told by Maester Aemon. Lord Baratheon reminds me of Roger Sterling. It looked as if the drunk in the tavern was a Targaryen.
Ser Duncan is played by an Irish actor Peter Claffey who was a former Professional Rugby player so he is physically what you want for Ser Duncan the tall haha
Oh my god
Glad yall are watching this it’s really good. Did I misunderstand or were they implying they’re watching one piece next? I thought it would be on a poll after invincible but I also thought this would be on a poll as well lol
One piece live action ofcourse.
I'm so happy you guys are watching this.
Here's hoping that this show doesn't end with some poorly written fanfiction like the last 2 shows with unfinished book material did. Third time's the charm right? ... Right? ...
Don't worry, George has written 12 of these novellas. Right??
Yesss was hoping this would be on the cards! Sadly unlike Ser Duncan, it's pretty short, but it's all great and there will be more to come 😊
“M’lord…..low born girls say M’lord not my lord” 😬
Standing with Milena and her firm anti-loser stance
After the disappointment that was House of the Dragon S2, this show was such a breath of fresh air. Dunk and Egg are the bestest of boys. I'm hoping S3 of HotD can win me back, but if not at least I have this to look forward to next year.
“Four pages for Ser Duncan. He must have been quite the man.”
random non-spoilery facts and opinions for your reading pleasure: 1- dunk & egg are 3 novellas (with more planned). dunk is originally a teenager (16/17) and almost 7 feet tall, but in the show he's older and 6'5" for obvious reasons 2- dunk serves as a parallel to a character we know and love, brienne of tarth! both representatives of the best qualities of knighthood without being actual knights (dunk is most likely not a knight, but we don't technically know). also yes, he is speculated to be a great great grandfather of brienne but we don't know. although, she does find and use his shield! 3- a hedge knight is a knight that travels and takes work where they can find it, which means they tend to sleep in the hedges a lot, hence the name. unlike other knights who are sworn to lords/houses and serve them for life. 4- i love the scene with the whores. "be good to your body, knight. last one you're like to have". knights and whores, selling and abusing their bodies for men so they can earn a living. a great parallel that honors grrm's themes. 5- love the maternal feelings for dunk, my first thought was "be gentle to him world!" like he's so endearing
"What classifies one as a knight, you know what I mean?" Hell yeah. I wish there was 100 episodes of this show, but a short season like this means they can dig into the thematic stuff straight away, and this episode nails it.
how i wish you guys would read the asoiaf books and the dunk & egg novellas. the shows (until this one) captured the dark realism of how brutal the world could be but could never quite capture the thread of romanticism and hope in his work. grrm very much tries to say that "yes, the world is horrifying, and you don't always win by being good, but it's still worth it to try". so many moments that conveyed his message in GOT ended up being cut.
On some lore since you asked, having in mind you finished the first season I will try to keep it short and non spoiler: -The show is roughly equidistant between HotD and GOT. Season one takes place during the rule of Daeron II aka Daeron the Good King Daeron maried to Myriah Martel of Dorne and they had 4 sons. Baelor the oldest has favours his mothers side in terms of looks (ergo the balck hair). Aerys a bookish type not shown in the show. Rhaegel a mentally ill person not shown And Maekar the 4th and least popular brother Blackfyre. Daemon Blackfyre. Remember him. The Blackfyres will come up in later seasons, they are a big deal in westeros at this point in time. PS I don't know if you cought it but a character referenced in the show appears in the main series!
Year 105: Start of House of the Dragon Year 209: Start of A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms Year 298: Start of Game of Thrones
You are going to love this. This is better than "The Dragon Show".
This over Pluribus? You might as well have just watched another cartoon.
Pluribus is mid
Omfg! What a great surprise! Your gonna love the show. Its basically a completly different take on Westeros. Instead of focusing heavily on political intrigues and power plays, it largely focuses on the smallfolks and all the social injustices of theyre society. Cant wait to see your reactions to it..

Perfect amount of episodes but also what a great follow up to mad men.
Was not expecting a new show. Well, this show was not on my watchlist but I guess I must watch it now.
YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS
Thank you!!! I've waited a lifetime for this.
On the episode, what I really liked is that despite there may be one joke too many, they conveyed the lighter more adventurous nature of these novellas. Especially the first season is the closest Westeros has been to a good time in George’s writings (though still bad things happen I mean we start with Dunk digging a grave). It’s also nice that the Game Master explains how it is really almost impossible for a peasant to pretend to be a knight, not only because it is a close cast that works with connections but also because of the exorbitant cost of the equipment needed for one to maintain his status as a knight. An economic status as much as a political one. I also just adore the dynamic between Dunk & Egg and how they really made the page come alive with this one. Amazing work by the actors. The first episode is more Dunk heavy so I will focus on him and how he clearly makes it up as he goes along, but this is not made to be a bad thing but one of self-actualization. Dunk takes what other people see in him, being Tall by Lyonel (btw this was not on the novella) and the Nobler sounding Dunkan from Egg to make himself into someone he wants to be, and someone he can be. The final thing with the Star is such a nice way to end the episode turning the seeming disadvantage of not having a roof over his head to an advantage over the cruel and uncaring knightly class we saw this episode.
I love me a big dumb sweetheart of a Himbo. This is gonna be fun
I gave up on this universe but heard good things about this. I guess this is my signal to start this show
LFG!!!!!!
Ah yes. A nice and casual romantic comedy that you ladies will love
This show is so damn wholesome, never expected it from GOT.
If you're looking for some short TV dramas, some amazing HBO mini series: The Night Of, Sharp Objects, Escape at Dannemora, We Own This City
Excellent list.
let's goooooooooooooo
They ruined my love for this story, could care less about the house of dragon shit but this novella was something I wanted to see on screen before book two was released and I was happy to see they did it justice. Also liked the cheeky meta shitting on Game of Thrones bit they did in the beginning lol. Hope Pluribus is coming someday soon.
A lovely surprise. Excited to watch this again
I love you guys. Thank you
LETS GOOOOOOO
Yesss I have been waiting for this since the show began! Glad you got around to it so quickly! I love, love, LOVE the novellas and I think that they made a pretty exceptional work adapting George’s work to the page. It is a chance to dig into some of the themes that Martin challenges the reader that the showrunners of GOT never understood and never tried to portray. If you like this I suggest you read the last two of George’s 5 books (A Feast For Crows and A Dance with Dragons).
Y’all have been on a generational run
YOOOOOOO
YESSSSSS
Man, there’s not much things to watch. (Sees notification) *Someone cooked*
😊😊😊😊😊
I for sure thought it was going to be The Americans
god i wish i didnt watch it so that that would be a possibility
I’m assuming they will start The Boys after they finish Invincible? Does any1 know for sure
i heard thats the case
I knew it🤘🤌
Now this is a treat
Was hoping for this, knew you would really vibe with the show.
Yessss this show was made for you two
Im so happy!
If we could post GIFs, I’d have one of Chandler from Friends going “I KNEW IT!”
Hell yeah
YESSSSSSSSSSS
I love surprises! (They do film the shows in Ireland, Northern Ireland to be specific.) I was an extra on game of thrones but so was every man with a beard in the country!
Let’s goooooooooo
Let’s Goooo!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
