Dang i knew i should've waited till ep 13
😔😔😔😔
Junpeis death broke me on my first watch, it's just so cruel... Also the "natural enemy" line is so good
One thing I would recommend is to skip the intros entirely. I feel like every intro spoils that particular arc a little bit, or maybe sets certain expectations of the storyline or characters. Personally, I don't like that type of storytelling, but that's just my opinion.
Nah it's illegal to skip JJK intros
To this day, the person that decided to put Junpei in the intro might be the biggest villain in this series 😭
what a legend fr, wish more animes did stuff like that
This is one of my favorite Sukuna moments.
16:33 Gojo could indeed end every single conflict by himself if he wanted to and without much effort, but he deliberately chooses not to in order to allow other sorcerers to gain experience and be able to hone their skills, especially the younger generations. He'll be gone someday, so he can't allow Jujutsu society to become too reliant on him so it can continue to evolve.
I love that, and, yes, jujutsu sorcerers have to be able to handle their own.
The thing with Yuji being aware of his own soul is the idea that most people can’t consciously choose to notice their own soul. They talked about this in a previous episode, that jujutsu sorcerers can use cursed energy but that doesn’t automatically make them aware of tangential things that are specific to a unique technique, like the ability to recognize souls. Yuji is unique in this particular situation for the same reason he’s able to resist Sukuna. It’s the fact Yuji can differentiate his soul from Sukuna intuitively without being absorbed by him that enables Yuji to intuitively strike Mahito’s soul. He’s not doing it on purpose, but the unique interaction between the curse’s technique and Yuji’s situation leads to Mahito’s main advantage in combat ceasing to matter. He can still heal himself, but it’s doing damage to his soul as well, and it’s his soul he’s using to heal his body.
No spoilers, just a bit of a breakdown. I think you've caught on to how Mahito takes no damage. He explains that souls are created first and bodies are shaped around them. Since he can literally manipulate souls, he’s likely telling the truth—he clearly has a deeper understanding of this than humans or other curses. What he does is basically preserving the shape of his soul; even if sorcerers dismember him, he just reshapes his body to match his soul, which results in zero damage. Other curses heal themselves too, but Mahito is different because he doesn't necessarily 'heal'—he just maintains his form without wasting much energy. On the other hand, Yuji is hitting his soul directly, even if he’s doing it unconsciously. He’s able to do this because he’s a vessel; having Sukuna inside him gives him an instinctive awareness of the soul's boundaries. Mahito can still 'heal' after Yuji hits him, but at that point, it starts consuming his cursed energy just like any other curse. Also, don't get confused when Yuji calls Sukuna a 'curse.' Even though Sukuna was originally a human sorcerer, Yuji doesn't really distinguish between them yet. To him, anyone this dangerous and supernatural is just a 'curse' regardless of their origin.
"In order for you to feel catharsis, I must first make you feel pain." -Gege Akutami, probably idk
the imagery of mahito and sukuna cackling behind a distraught yuji is one of my fav little moments in this season. it's just such a stark reminder that there is no reasoning or finding empathy within them, as they are indeed evil through and through
“Let the children die. Save yourself nanami” They officially adore him😭😭
LMAO i just knew they were gonna be head over heels for him 😭😭
I have watched this show uncountable times and I somehow have no recollection of this Juju Stroll??
They made something so fucked up jolly as hell lol
I love how you’re treating Gojo just like everyone in the show does, always asking where he is or what he’s doing. It’s so cool to actually step into their shoes and think like them for a while. It’ll be fun to look back later and see if this perspective was right or wrong.
Can we edit and not say what episodes to expect especially when previously hinting what those episodes would be about
“Oh, that’s right. At the end of the day, these two are both curses.” One of my favourite moments from the show. In these first 12 episodes, I think a lot of the audience are half-hoping and hyping up the idea of Sukuna being ‘won over’ by Yuji in some way. The idea that perhaps there will be a begrudging partnership that forms between the two, and a cooperative relationship could develop. I certainly was imagining the story heading in that direction, and Lola mentioned this possibility earlier too. Yuji offers everything to Sukuna to save Junpei, willing to write a blank cheque if necessary. But it’s a no. There will be no positives to this relationship, because of course there won’t be. That isn’t who Sukuna is. He is a calamity. Instead of telling the truth, that most likely he couldn’t have saved Junpei, he’d rather let Yuji think he chose not to, purely out of spite. Mahito and Sukuna laughing together at Yujis misfortune is a necessary moment of this story, because now both Yuji and viewer understand exactly where things stand and who we are dealing with. They are called curses for a reason.
It hits even better that Sukuna as a human can be considered as evil as a purely evil human cursed spirit like Mahito to the point that you can literally call him a "curse".
Mahito is such a great antagonist for yuji, and I love how the girls already hate him so much lol
Gonna be honest. I was completely baited by the show, that Junpei will survive and be good, Yuji will pull him into the light, all things good, but ;( . It was mostly because of the intro, lol. I was in denial for like the next 2 episodes, I thought they would somehow find a way to revert him back to normal ;(
“Fuck Geto, I don’t care about your reasonings” This made me laugh so much. Ever since you guys started JJK I was so sure, that Lola will love Geto after finding out more about him. Well, let’s seeee
they’re just saying this now lolol
Look, Gojo has important things to do. He's a modern man, always looking for the new spots and buying expensive clothing
This episode and the next one were what finally made me obsessed with this show. Until now every episode was slowly building up my enjoyment but I felt like the show still lacked a unique identity by itself. This is where the identity is finally unmasked. Junpei's very harsh death caught me by surprise(because of the intro). They took advantage of his clouded judgment. A poor troubled yet sweet kid falling victim to a ploy he barely has anything to do with. Sukuna rejecting both Yuji and Mahito on multiple occasions was also interesting. This confirmed his rigid and self serving personality to me. I think you guys usually like "grey" villains more, However the scene with Sukuna and Mahito laughing at Yuji is extremely daunting yet a perfect way to show how hard it is to be a kind soul like Yuji when surrounded by a world of pure evil sometimes. The cloudy weather and the author deliberately limiting the number of characters to a select few during this arc were also a great choice for setting the mood. Welcome to Jujutsu Kaisen ladies! Just as the principal kept digging for Yuji's in the beginning, This is a show that harshly challenges the ideals of its characters about the meaning life, sense of self and death through high stakes explosive fights. The author as you have seen so far is great at making characters that grab your attention immediately which makes this clash of ideals more engaging. Sorry for the long comment lol.
this is not about me but there literally isnt a villain on earth that i hate more than sukuna 🤣
It's a rough one, for obvious reasons, but it's very funny that you're doing mirrored headpalms
been sitting here 30 minutes, constantly refreshing the page and waiting for this JJK episode. Girls, I LOVE YOU
me fr, I thought I was mistaken and they actually released on Wednesday and I was so sad.
