Jujutsu Kaisen 1x06 Reaction

holy moly now that they're almost caught up, i just can't believe how on the ball they were with most of their predictions (this is pertaining to the beginning on season 2 with gojo and geto). truly refreshing to see this kind of analysis and a world where people just mindlessly shit on this show
I'd say Jujutsu is just the act of using Cursed Energy to fight or achieve goals. Simple as that.
At 23:53 the audio de-syncs from the video FYI
It's interesting how focused they are on Yuji's parents because when I started this show it was so obvious how Spider-man influenced Yuji's origin was that I never really spent much time thinking about his parents.
Loved the discussion in the intro of this video. I have also thought a lot about what else cursed energy could be used for, yet the society of jujutsu sorcerers only use it for violence.
Worst theory of 2026 from Lola and its only March <3
nice theories and discussion as always. did anyone had any issues with videos and audio not syncing for some sections of this video?
After madman yall could watch From, not allot of reactors have reacted to it, but it's pretty neat, it's made by the people that created Lost.
on a real note, when is the next anime movie? 👀
A Silent Voice, Wolf Children, Suzume 🥺
Many modern battle shonen manga can be seen as a chain of influences passed down through generations of creators. A good example is how Hunter x Hunter shaped Naruto, and how Naruto later inspired newer series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. Hunter x Hunter pushed the battle shonen genre in a more strategic direction. This was largely thanks to its combat system, which introduced rules and limitations. These rules forced characters to think and use tactics to win battles, rather than relying on brute strength alone. The series also focused on a group of young protagonists instead of just one hero. The main characters (Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Leorio) formed a team with different personalities and motivations. Their friendships and conflicts were just as important to the story as the battles themselves. Another element was the exam arc, where characters had to pass a series of tests and challenges to prove their worth. When Kishimoto created Naruto, he used many of these elements in a new form. Naruto centered around a trio of protagonist (Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura) guided by their teacher, Kakashi. This team structure became one of the most used patterns in battle shonen. Naruto also developed a structured power system similar to Nen. But one of Naruto’s most influential contributions was the idea of the protagonist harboring a monster inside them. Naruto himself contains the Nine-Tails, a powerful fox monster that is a threat and a source of strength. This concept became hugely popular and reappeared in many later series. Jujutsu Kaisen follows this again, focusing on the trio of Yuji, Megumi and Nobara, led by their powerful teacher Gojo. Like Naruto, Yuji constantly struggles with the threat of the monster inside him taking over. Chainsaw Man has a similar idea. The protagonist Denji merges with Pochita. The story also features a small team dynamic with characters like Power and Aki, all working under Makima.
I’ve always loved what Gojo said in this episode because it’s a very good insight into his character, “No one is allowed to take the events of youth from young people” - we see how he’s ready do defy the higher institution because he doesn’t want those kids to experience a life of constant danger and miss living life to the fullest.
gojo is about to fight jogo. Gege (the mangaka) is funny like that
6 episodes in and we already got long after reaction discussions, great character insight and excitement to watch the next episodes. See how great JJK can be when you don't have somebody in your ear telling you it's trash.
Well, the main part of the disscussion takes power system which is useless for them to disscus honestly.Because the author went a bit overboard with powersystem and some characters have absolutely complicated curse teqnigues to comprehend for most people. Most discussion heavy shows on their channel are AOT,Vinland Saga etc.,where discussions became longer as story progressed and not at the begining of the story, due to the fact that more mystery or characters got development. In jjk they just trying to figure out the world and powers mostly and after that comes discussion of characters. I enjoy jjk but I do not think that later in the season there will be that long discussions because they will mostly focus on characters.
next 2 episodes are so much funnnnnnnn ugh i cant wait!! this was also a lot of fun!
If you love Gojo already, you’re going to lose your minds meeting the adult of adults
friday can't come soon enough, the wait will feel like torture
Damn, can't wait to learn more about this Bungai character.
Just think of Cursed Energy as nen. Basically the same. You can use it to power up yourself and Cursed techniques are just like the unique nen abilities. Anything related to using Cursed energy falls under “jujutsu”
YUTA MENTION... Anyways, I can't wait for you guys to get past the early episodes, your discussions are so good and I'm excited for you guys to see how the story progresses.
i really love the theories you ladies are coming up with !!! your discussions are always such a joy to listen to! I can't wait to continue watching your journey with this series!!
Yall are some of the best reactors. That's what makes it 10 times more frustrating when you get hung up on some misunderstanding. Megumi's sister wasn't talking about using cursed energy on people you love. She was telling Megumi to stop thinking about people he hates and to think more about people he loves. "If I have the time to curse someone I'd rather think about those I care about" It's like Hunter X Hunter where the magic system is both something literal but also a metaphor for a characters traits.
If she has time to think negatively, she’d rather think positively
God their theories are insane. And people thought they wouldn't have interesting discussions!!
right, like i've been thoroughly enjoying these discussions!
Also as you have noticed the last scene in the intro keeps adding new characters based on the ones you meet :)
you guys are so right and so wrong about so many things thats all i'll say haha take what you will from that
The author is 100% an HxH fan there are homages to it in the show and you can see the similarities between the power system's throughout as well
Simple way to learn based on hunter x hunter: Cursed Energy: Nen Cursed Technique: Different ways to use Nen like how Gon uses rock paper scissors. So every sorcerer has a unique technique. Megumi's technique are the animals. Nobara's technique is the hammer and nails. Yuji wasn't born with a technique. So he instead has to focus on using purely cursed energy. Also one more thing you missed when Sukuna and Yuji were talking together because it's easy to miss: He explained why Yuji couldn't take back control in the detention center. It's because unlike the first time that they switched, this time Sukuna had no desire to switch. So Yuji took advantage of the situation selfishly and was punished by the rules of jujutsu. So he couldn't momentarily switch as a punishment. What is jujutsu? Sorcery (Doing magic with cursed energy)
Using your comment as a jumping point and to collect all the information we've been given so far by the characters– As Sukuna said last episode, Megumi's technique involves different shikigami (the various animals we've seen) but instead of simple shikigami that many sorcerers use, Megumi summons the shikigami from shadows. That's why he does hand signs when he summons them – to create a shadow and summon them. Sukuna has let us know that this is something more advanced and that's why he lamented Megumi not expanding on his talent. That's why in that one scene Megumi's hand goes through the ground because he realises he can diversify his use of shadows.
Don’t forget it’s not just that Yuji didn’t die when he ate the finger it’s also a question to why he’s able to completely handle him….usually Sukuna would take over the body but he can’t with Yuji.
Jujutsu is literally the technique sorcerers use for combat. Yuji wasn't born with a technique, hence why he can't use a cursed technique that would have been etched into his body when he was born. Shikigami are creatures that are summoned by the sorcerer, much like Megumi's creatures, but those shikigami are part of his technique. Simple shikigami can be used by Yuji, although simple ones are much different than of Megumi's. It'll be explained later.
The way Lola says "bun guy" sounds like Bankai so I had to do a double take when she was talking about it because I was like 'Huh? Does Lola remember BLEACH terms?'
I keep hearing ‘bungai’ which I thought was some word I didn’t know haha
Hey girlies is it Mad Men wednesday or thursday? ❤️
wednesday ❤️
What the author of 'Chainsaw Man', Tatsuki Fujimoto, said this when the CSM anime was announced: "Wait, the studio (MAPPA) that did Dorohedoro and Jujutsu Kaisen is doing the Dorohedoro and Jujutsu Kaisen knock-off Chainsaw Man? What else is there to say? I can't wait to work with them?" I think here Fujimoto is being funny but Jujutsu Kaisen did come out in 2018 and Chainsaw Man in 2019. Like you said though, tropes present in both works are so common in various stories so none of this should be taken too seriously.
Jujutsu Kaisen came out a few months before Chainsaw man, there are definitely some similarities and the creators are friends with eachother.
Speaking of Chainsaw Man, it was announced today that the manga will end in two weeks. Just a small fact I wanted to share!
I think we don't know for sure if the entire series is going to end though,; or if it is just going to be the conclusion of part 2.
