Biggest question is: Midge's addiction inspired Don to abandon the cigarette business, but was it out of real empathy or a shallow ploy to make an ad for the firm itself? ;)
I feel this episode is all about dynamics inverting: Don takes control back from Lucky's departure Sally shows she's more mature then Betty Pete shows he's more responsible then Don And Midge the painter... sadly heroin takes power over anyone.
A grim time for the firm. Last episode, when Don accepted the intimacy overture from Megan, he didn't know that Faye had set up the Heinz meeting. In fact, Faye had told him that she wouldn't help in that way. In any case, Don's M.O. is to do the deed w/different women contemporaneously. As for this episode, whether good or bad, I like the way Don shook up the firm situation with the full-page NYT ad. I understand the other partners viewing it as unacceptable not to be consulted.
