So which one of you two is slacking off on the edited reaction?
I'm sure it's a Patreon buffering issue.
1960 -- Nixon (Republican nominee) runs for President against JFK (Democrat nominee) and lost. 1968 -- Nixon (Republican nominee) runs for President and wins. 1972 -- Nixon runs for President and wins re-election. 1974 -- Nixon resigns.
I think it's kind of better to not know the exact dates of everything that happens in the 60s/70s cuz then you get surprised, like I did when I first watched (I'm not american).

Glenn shouldn't come in of course, but it is ironic that Betty tells him that room is private when she was just snooping around and looking through Helen's drawer with the birth control pills. I love how Roger comes into Pete's office and tells him to be thankful to Don. And yes, Kennedy was running against Nixon in this election. Nixon was vice president to Eisenhower in the 50s, that's why he was the Republican nominee.
At Peter's house his parents had drapes placed on their furniture because they were about to close their house for the summer and head to the shore.
Spoiler. Let them decipher that themselves.
I love the ending with Ella Fitzgerald singing. Such a perfect episode.
Pete invites it on himself.
Looking forward to the discussion! The plastic thing Betty found in the bathroom is a birth control pill container https://99percentinvisible.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/birth-control-round-case.jpg
I need one season of mad men per week, please inject it into my veins.
In this house, Peter Campbell is a hero. End of story!
"He was a hero!" "What about the infidelity?" "whaat infediltyyy???"
I thought we would be getting monster as well?
The last Monster episode was posted only 2 days ago.
getting only one episode of monster per week is going to be the death of me
Did they say once a week?
just finished watching episode 3! seeing the actor of pete being a dick is nothing new for those who have watched angel (buffy's 'sequel') let's see if he gets better of of he's destined to be a forever asshole here too. also, if i'm not mistaken he's married to rory gilmore's actress, which was in the handmaiden's tale with peggy's actress, which is kinda funny since they're a thing in this show.
Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel divorced in 2022 but were married for 8 years ya.
Pete's story in this episode and how he is not the man his father expected him to be is a perfect definition of how patriarchy and its expectations are something negative for absolutely everyone, and this is one of the things I like most about Mad Men: the way the series portrays that this culture of defining roles, being a provider, not being able to show weakness and having to take care of your family is also harmful to men themselves. Obviously, nothing compares to the historical struggle of women, who are the biggest victims in the social context. But men also have an expectation of how to behave imposed since childhood. I am very grateful that my father was able to break the cycle in his family and teach me a different perspective of what masculinity really represents, which is the complete opposite of violence, of not showing emotions and of not being able to be affectionate with the people around you, but unfortunately this in a general context does not change because the attitude of recognizing this has to come from us men and most are incapable of admitting this (also linked to religious issues in which men are represented as superior) despite everything it is a comfortable situation to be in the role of oppressor. Anyway, sorry for the long comment, I'm looking forward to seeing your review!!
I would say slavery, as well as the genocide and annihilation of indigenous peoples outweighs the struggles of women.
