what lola is referring to is most likely dissociative personality disorder. borderline personality disorder is something else completely. BPD is characterized by fear of abandonment and unstable emotions among other things.

The only thing that I can think with the candy poison is that maybe the candy that the doctors eat at that time still not yet been poisoned but later when Johan gained conscious (where we saw in episode 2), he got a chance to get the muscle relaxant which can be found in hospital and poisoned the candy. Later, he manipulate the doctors to eat the poisoned candy (maybe said some words like 'Thank you doctors for taking care of me, I would like to give the candy to you as a thank you.' (and the doctors must not beware of a child). After the doctors have been killed, Johan ran away from the hospital together with his sister.
I love the poisoned candy theories.

Lunge is one of my favorite characters in anything lol
Since you guys have already seen future eps then I can say this: I really can't wait for episode four reaction like oh my god that's when monster hooked me for the first time
Monster is one of those manga/anime that transcends the standard quality of most anime shows. It really is on a level with some of the most high level drama series and novels imo.
We finally meet Lunge. He's such an interesting character, the way he's drawn and his mannerisms are pretty unique. So many fun theories. "What if the candy was just expired?" lol I am glad that you went into this show without reading the synopsis. It's much better this way. Also, the wait for next episode is not going to be easy!
I think even the show hopes the viewer comes in with the least amount of context possible. Even the intro is completely vague, something EXTREMELY rare for an Anime, to the point Johan isn't even shown clearly in it. I remember that just like the girls, I felt like the show was hinting towards a more supernatural type of show with horror elements.

As I said, Monster is very special. I'm guessing you're already on episode 5/6, so you already have a slightly better understanding of the show. My advice: Not everything is true.
