Upon rewatching the show alongside you i started to notice the things you were talking about that I havent noticed myself so thank you for being so attentive, this show really has a lot of subtle moments that are show greatness

It's funny you mention you got gotham city and batman vibes from the episode cuz the same animation studio who made Bebop also worked on the 90s Batman cartoon and took inspiration from it for this specific episode

Not sure if this has been said yet, but the final two episodes of the show are a two parter, so it'd be worth planning ahead to watch them together! Sad that the end is in sight already, but that's Bebop for you, leaves you wanting more. Faye is my favourite character too btw.

I look at it this way; Frieren did not become a First Class mage because Serie’s biased criteria disqualified her, but we all know she’s definitely a First Class mage in all but name. The Crunchyroll Awards are more a popularity contest than a merit of quality. I like Solo Leveling but in my heart Frieren is the anime of the year.

I'm not French but took French in school so Lola did pronounce it correctly. Main take away is not to pronounce the 't' in Pierrot. It's a reference to a Jean-Luc Godard film of the same name

For anyone wondering what Frieren did win, it won best background art, best director, and Fern won best side character.

"The anime of the year" is never the anime that is actually the best anime of the year. It's always a show that is action packed and exciting but not usually shows that are thoughtful like Frieren and Vinland Saga. Unfortunately.

The name “Pierrot le Fou” is a reference to the 60s French new wave film of the same name by Jean-Luc Godard

Haven't seen the awards but that's bummer (but ultimately not surprising) about Frieren, assuming it lost to a popular shonen. Another episode that I haven't remembered the details, but Pierrot the unnerving way they show him as an unphased monster leaves such a mark. I didn't even remember that they explain his backstory a decent bit, but that one wound that leads to him crying like a child before he's crushed and disappears like a ghost was chilling.

Nah Solo Leveling was better tbh. Shout out to South Korea.

Absolute Robbery, unfortunately the shows with cool fight scenes always win since they attract the most views, and the awards are fan voted. A lot of people prefer entertainment over character writing which isn’t a bad thing, to each their own, but it’s truly a bummer, having said that Frieren still has a massive following and has broken many records and won many awards. It’s also the highest rated show. I’m satisfied with that 😌
