I'd suggest the romance anime Fruits Basket (2019), like many other commenters. Be careful with romance anime, since a lot of them have fan service (i.e., overly-sexualizing girls, especially underage/young girls). I avoid anime like that, and I imagine you guys would prefer to do the same.
I posted a list, and almost none of them are even close to being fanservice. But yeah, they're really going to hate scenes like that. We saw that in Death Note with Misa. I think they won't like Steins Gate for the same reason.

Yuri on Ice. Short show, 50% a romance story. Tsurune and Run with the Wind are both implied romance (except when it is a bit more than implied). A fantastic romance show is My Dress-Up Darling, but only if you're okay with it being horny. If not: Monthly-Girls Nozaki-kun.
