Severance 2x07 Reaction
what a piece of television

A couple things I've noticed: -At the beginning she's being measured by the nurse with a 'woe-meter'. My guess is that all those rooms are related to different levels of Woe. (Cold Harbor could possibly be the highest level of Woe) -The props on the testing floor seem to be made by O&D. (The ego-death yoga cards, the dentist tools) - Burt definitely has been on that testing floor, seeing as he was the previous head of O&D, and he used to go before they sent Dr. Mauer.
You guys need to react to Silo!! It's on Apple TV with 2 seasons. It's the perfect show for you both. Post-apocalyptic, mystery, great character development, look into it please!!
Great reaction but one thing i really liked about it is they went back and rewatched the part with marc and gemma discussing the Chikhai Bardo cards. Almost every word matters on this show and it’s frustrating when they are talking over important parts, especially if they are speculating about what is happening and the show is literally in the process of providing that answer.
Agreed, though it's hard to know what you've talked over sometimes. I'm so glad they caught it!
Amazing reaction to one of the most beautiful episodes of tv of all time. I will say this though. Dang does it stink to not get your initial thoughts on episodes. Having you guys come back after four hours and talking about the episode with each other, I feel like missing the emotions of the episodes. The feelings of the episode. I would loooove at least five minutes after the episode. If that’s your just sitting there saying what happened and crying, hey welcome to the club. All that said. I couldn’t wait for you to watch this episode. It did. Not disappoint. And we are in the end game now. What an unreal season of tv this is.
Am i the only one who thinks Reghabi is a poorly written character? Unlike the other characters, her behavior is entirely driven by plot and not character motivations. In season 1, she kept calling Petey’s cell, hour after hour, until Marc picked up. It created drama but it didn’t make sense. In episode 3 of this season, she showed up in front of Marc’s car exactly when the plot needed it… no explanation of how she found him or why she chose that particular time to re-enter his life. In episode 7 she left Marc and Devon when the script needed it. Sure Devon said she wanted to call Cobel, but she didn’t, and Reghabi’s decision did not change. And the biggest one of all, why did she wait so long to tell Marc about his wife. Are we supposed to believe that she desperately wanted Marc to reintegrate but couldn’t find the time to mention that it would help free his wife? It all seems manufactured and its not the way the other characters behave.
Also, i just dont understand the constant shouting at Marc. She literally has no cards to play other than being persuasive, and in such situations u need carrots, not sticks. The show knows this, they demonstrated it the second time Milchick visited Marc. He tried to anticipate the arguments that Marc would find most appealing (that Severance was helping him overcome his wife’s death) and crafted his pitch around that. Reghabi, on the other hand, mostly shouts at Marc. The actress playing her does a great job. It’s the writing i have an issue with.
The longer you wait and digest this episode, the more things start to fit together. I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and I'm excited to see if I'm right and how they pull it off.
This is probably the most cinematic episode of tv I’ve ever seen.
There’s a behind the scenes type thing after every episode like interviews with the actors and directors
I'm excited that we've solved all of the functions of O&D! Optics & Design: Is in charge of art on the severed floor. Creates psychological testing materials that are mailed to potential Lumon candidates, like Gemma. Use their 3D printer apparatus to unknowingly build every set on the Testing Floor. It's really tidy and gives me faith that the goats will fit, too
The chips could be connected? They could be stimulating/ influencing different emotions in each other. Again, maybe the end goal is a hive mind.
This episode was truly cinema. It was the first episode to make me cry. The ending felt so defeating. Excited to watch the reaction!
Gorgeous episode and, with the flashbacks and obtuse scientific experiments going on, definitely the most Lost-forward episode of the series so far. (Shout out to Eternal Sunshine, too. I think one of the files is "Montauk", right?) Lola! The thank-you-card room is "Allentown", which is (presumably) the file Mark finished to earn his glass statue! I guess we have a situation here where Mark refining the numbers helps Lumon zero in on the things Gemma hates the most (flying, going to the dentist) so they can torture her various Innies with them and test if those horrible experiences bleed through to her Outie. What does that means for Cold Harbor? Nothing good, I'm guessing. I will say that the Reghabi stuff is pretty weak for me. She doesn't explain anything (despite apparently knowing everything) and the show engineers a dumb reason for her to leave as soon as Devon starts asking pointed questions. Lame.
The line "she was raised by them" could be a figure of speech like you said, but having met Miss Huang... Reghabi probably meant that literally, which is deeply disturbing. I also like how by the end of the episode you end up agreeing with your friend about killing them all lmao
Isn't there a scene in season 1 where we see something about a Lumon school for girls on Cobel's wall? I think she and Miss Huang both attended, and most likely Milkshake attended a similar school.
What an incredible episode. It made me seriously adore Gemma, but also worry for what’s to come, because I can’t see her escaping without finishing cold harbor. Whatever cold harbor is, I don’t think Gemma will ever be the same after finishing it, at least not for a long while. I’m also here to celebrate my early unhinged prediction being somewhat right, on Gemma being involved with Lumon because of a miscarriage. Now all that’s left is for that “miscarriage” to become miss huang :).
You're a "go down with the ship" type, huh :P
You mentioned that u missed their discussion about the cards. Gemma said that the cards arrived in the mail - she guessed that she must have somehow “got on to a mailing list at the clinic” My guess is that Lumon use the fertility clinic to profile potential candidates for their plans; I assume they shortlisted Gemma and sent her the cards as some kind of further test to see if she was suitable. PS - You might have missed it, but the evil Dr Mauer from the testing floor actually walked past Mark & Gemma at the fertility clinic! I wouldn’t be surprised if Lumon’s profiling of Gemma (& Mark?) may even have started when they donated blood. Maybe Lumon even somehow caused her miscarriage to get them to come to the fertility clinic.
Yeah they went back to watch the card scene again and noticed Dr Mauer!
Why her? The blood Gemma and Mark are donating in the beginning is going into a container with the Lumon logo on it. Could it be that there is something in Gemma’s blood that makes her viable for their plans, and Lumon sets up blood drives as a way to scan the populace for potential candidates?
shoutout to director Jessica Lee Gagne for this beautiful episode!
I truly loved this episode, it immediately became my favorite. I don't think I ever cried watching Severance so far but this one got me and while I generally feel like I need the next episode immediately, with this one I felt grateful that I had to wait another week just so I could emotionally process things.
Allentown(the Christmas room) was the file that got Mark awarded the prize you always mention, Lola
There is one thing I cannot understand that maybe someone here has an explanation for. So on Gemma's floor, her outie (who remembers Mark) is in that living space and the hallway, and she has various different innies in each room. I therefore assume that Ms Casey is another innie version who is activated by going up that elevator. So outie Gemma should know that going up the elevator would not lead to her escape because she will instead transition to an innie, in this case Ms Casey. Why would outie Gemma try to escape using the elevator? That doesn't make sense to me.
i think she’s just trying to get out of the lumon building and the elevator is the only way to do that? even if she knows it won’t be her outie she seems desperate enough to try any means possible
7:52 - Milena gets briefly possessed by a pufferfish
i was shocked to find out this episode was a directorial debut for Jessica Lee Gagné. maybe my favorite episode of the show
And to be the cinematographer for nearly every episode, as well! How cool is it to raise one up from your own for such a key moment? She was the right choice, for sure
Always great to watch someone spread their wings and succeed. You've no doubt seen on Twitter that this was Jessica Lee Gagne's directorial debut, and what a result!
Easily my favorite episode of the show so far. The way Gemma is kinda my favorite character now is crazy, her actress has come a long way from (trigger warning) the 100. Also, the way Gemma tried to escape reminded me of how Helly tried to escape in the first season, Mark definitely has a type lol #freegemma
This episode felt like a movie.
