Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End 1x26 Reaction

i thought it was recency bias but i think this is the best show i've ever seen. its as good as hunter x hunter but it has an efficiency of storytelling like the episode forks in the bear. ive never seen episodes that get so much done in such a little time but yet you feel like your taking your time. the other thing is the fighting sequences we have no training arc. so we dont know what we are going to get in the fights. the other thing is the flashbacks i thought would be used as a deus ex machina to get out of situations in the present but they are soo much more than that.

oh I almost forgot, I think you guys would enjoy “your lie in April” too!! It’s a show about music! you guys would love how poetic and beautiful it is🫶

I wish Fruits Basket could qualify as the next show for this slot…if they’re wanting something similar to Frieren in that it has great female characters (main character is a girl), and is all about emotions and relationships. It can be sad but is also just as often funny, and is ultimately extremely hopeful no matter how sad things seem in a moment. No matter what though, I’m not ready for this show to end ❤️

I'm a little sad that only finished shows were considered for the next poll. I would've loved "86" to be on it. Yes, it isn't finished, but the ending it had feels conclusive for it is (similar to HxH). Unfortunately, under those criteria it will never get a shot because a second season isn't in sight. Which is a bummer. I'm certain the girls would love that show.

The clones that had already been destroyed coming back to fight again caught me totally off guard when I watched this episode, even though there was no particular reason to think the Spiegel was limited to only creating them once. Pretty appropriate for an episode where the limits of characters imaginations was a key plot point.

One of my favourite details with the mimic scene is that there's already 3 other mimic chests off to the side. Which means that was the 3rd attempt (in that room alone) and Frieren was still confident! 🤣🤣🤣

The reason Wirbel wouldn’t have been able to just cut through the Proctors cloak is because he isn’t insane enough like Übel to only think of the cloak as a cloak. He believes intellectually/subconsciously that it can’t be cut due to the defensive barrier of the cloak while Übel disregards that concept completely and can imagine cutting it because she has a screw loose lmao.

a few others have recommended it before but ‘Look Back’ is a very sweet and moving anime film that came out earlier this year. (it’s only 58min) much like frieren it centers on how the people we meet change us and how we carry them

yesterday I rewatched your reactions to the first four episodes of Frieren and I really wish I had the power to go back in time and tell those Lola and Milena that this would become one of their favorite shows before they even finished the season, Honestly if you guys decide to watch the first 4 eps again I don't know how you're going to survive but I will support 100%

I think Richter was talking to the girl who fought Sense's replica first (I forget her name) and was just making a dig at her because he doesn't recognize her. Just a funny bit. Also, a battle of attrition is essentially one where both sides fight for a prolonged period until one exhausts all its resources and loses

Really glad you felt so connected to this anime, I was really impressed by it as well but not to the extent as you were. Had a blast watching your reactions and how empathetic you are towards those characters. You said that this show healed something inside you, I had similar experience with 'March Comes in Like a Lion'. I feel like with how empathetic and invested in characters you usually are it's definitely a show for you. It's gonna make you cry both of sadness and happiness. It's not that hype and popular unfortunately and I can't see it winning the polls in the near future but I would be happy if it'd at least appeared in the polls and got acknowledged as an option at some point.

To explain the visualization part and Ubel a little bit better. In this world magic is not just about who uses the most destructive spells or has the most mana, you need to visualize the magic you wield to do what you want to do. If your magic specializes in ice and freezing you can easily imagine freezing a lake to cross it, but what if that lake is made of lava ? Can you imagine freezing it over and cooling it down ? Sure you can try, but in your mind you will have doubts and those doubts will stop the task. I mean it’s only logical that lava cannot just be frozen over. Ubel is special in that regard ( she doesn’t think like normal humans ) she can completely blank her mind of all doubts and instead of using logic she uses pure feelings to cast a spell and accomplish her task. A cloak made of cloth ( like the Proctor that she killed had ) even if her minds screams that it’s full of defensive spells her gut feeling just blends it over and says cloth can be cut the same as hair. If that proctor would have worn steel amor imbued with defensive spells instead she most likely wouldn’t have been able to kill that proctor. If she feels like she can cut something she will and if she feels like she can’t cut something she won’t. Her magic is all about feeling not logic.

What if the next show they watch is JoJo Bizarre Adventure? *runs* Ok guys, I know its a long show (I think that currently counting all the seasons JoJo has something around 150 episodes), but you all know that watching JoJo at some point is a canon event on every reaction channel. Sooner or later it has to happen here too, and its a really fun show, I think they both will really enjoy it.
