"I don't get this show." LOL - have you tried explaining it to someone who has never watched it? Q - What happened on Frieren this week? A - Well, the kids fell out but they made up again. We said goodbye to a travelling companion and Fern caught a cold. It was SUCH a good episode! Q - Uh-huh It's impossible lol
I'm sure other commenters have said it, but the fact that the the first outro is the perspective of Himmel to Frieren and the second outro is Frieren responding is just heartbreaking and I love the artistry this show is full of

I feel so bad for Stark all the time. He's basically never done anything wrong but is always the one to apologize. Even when Fern comes to realize she's wrong and needs to communicate her thoughts and to listen to Stark's side of things, the focus is always on him saying he's sorry, and then Fern will do the angry silent pouting thing again after a few episodes anyway, so no lesson is learned. If Stark wasn't so earnest and forgiving this relationship would never work, because any regular person would be so done with Fern after a year of this pattern. The worst thing that's been done between them intentionally was Fern looking at him naked without his consent, and even that was treated as humor with no apology.
There has been some debate among Japanese fans about Fern's attitude. But Fern lost her parents at an early age and had to care for Heiter, who took her in, from a very young age, so her “childhood” was very short. Even on the trip with Freelen, Fern took care of Freelen like a mother, and with Stark's participation, she finally started to act her age. Fern looks like an adult, but she is a child in the process of growing up. He is a child who cannot explain the reason for his anger and can only express it in a grumpy manner, and can only be honest when an adult is in between.
"It's so quiet traveling alone" always hits me like a sledgehammer. You can prefer being alone or not, but you can't deny how quiet it is.

I remember hearing somewhere that both of the outro perspectives are a call out and a response of Himmel and Frieren. It absolutely shatters my heart, just like this show does all the time.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets emotional at the 2nd outro song 🥲 Somehow it's even more poignant than the 1st one. The part that gets me the most is that I think the grave she's resting on is Fern's future grave. That's why it ends in the same spot, but she's resting her head on Fren's lap like she does 😭❤️
The second outro covers Frieren and Fern’s entire relationship. Little baby Fern, the rock she manage to blow a hole in, the butterfly hairpiece, which then the butterfly floats off from, as if to signify Fern passes. Frieren in a little dark tunnel, before she takes another long adventure to heaven and there Fern with angel wings (alongside Himmel symbolically with the flower from his hometown) wait for her, and Frieren lying on Fern’s lap that’s where Fern’s gravestone was. Can’t. Stop. Crying.
frieren was the show that overtook fmab as the number 1 all time show in most anime lists. FMAB is still MY favourite of all time, but i can see why people like frieren, and it does seem more for adults too lol
I still find it amusing that the manga is published in Shonen magazine (manga aimed at male teenagers), even though it clearly appeals to all genders and ages. I don't know how the Japanese see it, but this division into target groups should probably be abandoned soon, as it clearly no longer works :D
Frieren after thousands of years of traveling starts to forget her first apprentice. After laying down on her grave she once again remembers all the time with warmth and love she spent with Fern. That ending struck me hard the first time I saw it. Also a detail most people don't notice is that Stark doesn't feature in it at all because Stark is truly unforgettable.

She also wrote and sang Drown (Vinland Saga Ending Season 1 Part 2) and Bliss, the special ending to the first 4 episodes of Frieren, which also played in episode 11.
