The tight votes in the poll and the light bickering was really fun in the beginning, but the toxicity towards the end really sucked. I voted Haikyuu from the start and I’m so excited to watch those reactions, but nonetheless all these comments have made me really curious and I’ve read the first 6 chapters of Monster. The manga’s premise is really intriguing so far. I’ve booked the first 3 volumes from my local library and will watch the anime after in preparation for when LM react to it or it gets added to the next poll. Or if LM decide to choose Monster regardless, I feel like that’s still a possibility 🤷‍♀️

Ok, let's go with Karasuno then! For Monster fans, don't worry; they will watch it also just be patient. It's really awesome for Monster to have an opportunity against a more recent anime. Both shows are great for LM for different reasons. The argument people usually give downplaying the other options or saying one is more suitable for their reactions are just fallacies trying to justify their personal preferences. Monster is a seinen psychological thriller, while Haikyuu is more a coming-of-age story about teamwork and sportsmanship. It's not a philosophical treatise about morals, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have interesting messages. Monster and Haikyuu are both awesome shows with excellent storytelling and character focus (They both contrasts with animes like Jujutsu Kaisen which is more action-oriented shonen, and even if it has some interesting characters and good animation, it almost doesn't have any meaningful character development). For people who dropped Haikyuu, I recommend at least watching until episode 9. This anime doesn't follow the traditional 5-episode rule. It takes some time to introduce the characters and conflicts. The reason Haikyuu is considered one of the greatest sports anime of all time, alongside anime like Slam Dunk and Hajime no Ippo, even if it is a recent anime, is because t is not a conventional sports anime, it's and character driven and breaks some sports anime tropes. Haikyuu does an excellent job not only with the main character but also with the antagonists. For me, there are some of the best antagonists I've ever watched. And even the minor and secondary characters have eventually their peak moments and make you empathize with them.

Well, I was really hoping to wake up to a miraculous Monster win, but if nothing else, at least the poll is finally over. I'm crossing my fingers that, when they finish Frieren, we'll have an opportunity to vote on some darker, more serious animes. We wouldn't want the girls to grow TOO accustomed to the sunshine of Frieren and Haikyuu. 🤣

Im glad that Monster at the very least seems to have been confirmed to be watched after with the strong fight it put in this poll, which is a very hugh sigh of relief. Monster and other Urasawa works are perfect for LM This Haikyuu Journey is gonna be so great to witness along with LM reactions and I hope many new LM fans will hop on board and see why so many people adore this wonderful show. Im suprised that so many still seem to think we are only getting 2 movies. We've seen it more than a handful of times that things get announced as "Final" in the Anime Industry and they still announce things afterwards. The First movie was not only one of the most successful anime movies in Japan, but period of the top 50 most grossing movies of all time + sold a ridiculous amount of merchandise. They are gonna with 99 % certainty announce a 3rd movie, because anything other than that would be just the most supid of business decisions. Corporate greedy suits that are in the Anime commitees, which make these decisions love money above else and the Haikyuu movies are money printing machines. So letting money of the table aint gonna happen. Its such a dirty Business pratice to only announce 2 movies and force everyone to panic and rush into the movies instead of a regular TV Season, but unfortunately it worked overall. Nothing in the way they have also marketed/shown for the 2nd movie has me conviced that they will cram everything into just one movie.

This is my first comment here and I admit, I joined the patreon to vote for haikyu. As happy as I am for this result, it made me really upset to see the nastiness of the fandoms over a reaction poll. I have never seen monster and plan to watch it soon, but I have seen several reactions of haikyuu and the fandom is one of the most chill and unproblematic out there (compared to certain other feral anime fandoms). It was never a matter of a show winning or losing, but just to decide the order of watching. This vote switching business is frustrating and completely undermines the actual value of both the animes guys. Anyway excited for the reactions! ❤️

As someone who hasn't watched Hunter x Hunter or Haikyuu, only watches reactions to shows I've seen, doesn't have time to start a new long series (although I do have interest in trying Haikyuu someday), and isn't watching any of LM's other current shows, I'll be sad to sit out on another one of their long show reactions, but I will try to keep supporting your channel if it's financially possible for me. I love your content, and as I do for other reactors, I try to keep supporting even when I'm not watching anything. I say this because it looks like Monster will be losing unless something shocking happens soon. If this doesn't work out for Monster, I hope the show after Frieren can be a bit darker (since Frieren and Haikyuu will have both filled the "feel good, happy show" quota).

If Haikyuu wins they will have to wait 6-9 months for the final movie and they will have to watch monster in between. I think it’s unreasonable to try to choose between two hugely popular works from different genres through a vote in the first place. This doesn’t just apply to this situation, but to other polls conducted by streamers as well. For example, the rivals for “Haikyuu!!” should be “Kuroko’s Basketball,” “Blue Lock,” or “Tsurune,” and the rivals for “Monster” should be “Ghost in the Shell SAC” or “Steins;Gate.” (Of course, there may be better anime suggestions out there, but what I’m proposing is that we should compare works within the same genre.)

I think LM should make a rule that if a large surge of votes gets switched to one side in a short time frame especially the last minutes of the poll, then the poll is void and something else would have to be done. I dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but the Haikyuu Opening should be skipped in Episode 1. Its totally fine to watch the Opening from Episode 2 onwards, but plenty of reactors and people in general had something just slighty spoiled for Episode 1

Maybe it would be a good idea to make an exception this time and put the losing show in the next open live action slot and make that a temporary anime slot. Then after Frieren is over make that slot live action to make up for it. That way both fanbases will be happy

Honestly, if only 5 to 20 votes decide the winner, it's too close to tell who the winner is. Even if they finally stopped swapping, it would only be 48/49/50% versus 52/51/50%. In my opinion, both shows have won. They should both just decide for themselves which one they want to see first. Personally, I think it would be best to see Monster first because when the second Haikyuu movie is released in theaters in late 2025, it will be available for streaming in February 2026, which would be perfect timing.

I don't understand how long the polls are meant to run for. For a poll as close as this one where the margin is barely existent, there should be an end time for the poll so all the voters are aware of when its ending instead of ending it at a random time when no one is aware of it. I only say this because there have been numerous times where both of these shows have taken the lead in votes and its not just that one show has been leading the votes on a small margin. So if you decide to end it now, where currently Monster is leading, it'd be unfair to Haikyuu because in a few hours, it could also take the lead and vice versa.

At this point, I really think that they should react to both (1 episode per week each). That way they will finish Haikyuu in 1.5 years, which should be enough for the movies to be out. SO many people here that seemingly havent listened properly to LM talk about during/at the end of HxH and ESPECIALLY Mob Psycho about wanting to watch more shows in the same vein and spirit. They perfectly described a show like Haikyuu in its sincere emotional depth, inspirational, live-invogarating and warm nature and wanted this kind of feeling in furture shows as well. Im so stoked for either Monster or Haikyuu, as they are once again for diffrent reasons perfectly suited for their tastes in themes and especially charachters, but some folks at times dont even care to listen to their thoughts at all and are really downplaying Haikyuu and how much they really are excited for it.

For the most part, there's only been a 2 to 3 vote difference between the 2 and it would be unfair if they choose 1 after the difference being so close.
