Killua as a character has been walking on water ever since he held that Volleyball for Gon. That's when I fully saw his depth and his badassery together so beautifully and these 2 things just grow until the end.
Is it possible you're getting used to HxH and your predictions will only continue to be more accurate (like you accurately predicting the Knuckle death scare and him not actually dying this episode)?

All I gotta comment is that Killua is G for even standing in front of that monster like that. I can’t wait for your reaction to the rest of this arc.

While this anime does have an issue occasionally with comedic beats being mistimed and misused during serious moments, I don’t think knuckle admitting that he wasn’t that close to shoot is one of them. I think that’s reinforcing how pure hearted he is, that in this life and death mission he took this big risk for someone he didn’t previously even like that much. I think his compassion is just enhanced during the mission because they don’t know if they are getting out or not. Just like how shoot’s courage shot up as well. That being said other aspects of the scene was bit silly and maybe could have used slight constraint on the tonal whiplash. The animation was popping off though.
Yeah I can see that issue since the tone of this arc for the most part is dark with barely any levity or comedy.
