Not that I think this is what is actually going to happen, but the upset is there if Poirier can spend enough time on the feet to materialize it.

Makhachev has gotten a lot better at striking, but he still occasionally makes the same mistakes he did that got him knocked out against Adriano Martins.

Just goes to show that fighters rarely ever completely fix issues, but rather find ways to mask them. For Makhachev, that has meant opting to take a more patient backfoot countering approach rather than trying to be Khabib.
