Engine Hoist, AI traffic improvements, fixes - 0.23 Now Available
0.23 is now available to download through the usual location over on itch.
The focus here was to get Vending Machines working before the Christmas break. So there are a bunch of fixes tied to that and other areas. I've also added in an Engine Hoist to allow working on the engine outside the vehicle. AI Traffic has had a rewrite to make it more performant and persistent. If performance is still poor on your machine, I've also added an option to the video menu that allows you to lower the maximum amount of AI drivers allowed. Full change list below.
Change List 0.23
Added Engine Hoist to the player garage to allow working on engines outside of the truck
Fixed glowing text on truck beds
Fixed issue with light button getting stuck in the car if the headlights had fallen off
Fixed load issue with players who managed to get a radio
Lowered fog on passenger windows during rain
Adjusted player location when interacting with bolts on the carburettors
Fixed alternator not being placeable on engine
Added calls for Alternator, Air Filter, Radiator, Carburettors & Ignition Coils to make placement on engines easier by removing other component colliders blocking view.
Adjusted Alternator nut interactions to look better
Rewrote the AI Traffic system
AI traffic moved over to a pooling system to prevent hitching
Previous system had cars exist at the same time all over the world,
the new system changes this to have only a small number of vehicles constantly near the player
Cars will return to the pool if they are too far away
Cars will be repositioned in front of the player when returned to the pool
Added LODs to AI traffic vehicles
Traffic levels should now feel more consistently represented
AI should now adjust speed based on the vehicle in front of them, reducing the brake checking
Performance should be greatly improved
Added a max traffic AI slider to the video options menu so players can clamp how many AI can spawn
Note: There's still some issues with AI that need work. AI car brake lights now flicker with how they are braking, and AI can still get confused and veer off into a tree. More work is needed from me here!
