NPC Tales: The Adventurer Demo Is Here!
Hey everyone!
NPC Tales: The Adventurer Public Demo is finally Here!
For those of you who are new to the Adventurer demo, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect.
This demo primarily focuses on combat mechanics, as you’ll quickly discover. You’ll be able to explore the forest outside the city, encounter a variety of monsters, and take them on in classic turn-based combat. And in line with the “free use” theme, fighting isn't the only way to interact with your enemies!
Clover, the bunny girl adventurer, will be joining you in battle as you explore the forest, so make sure to keep her in good shape before heading into the fray. Preparation is important, too, so don't forget to stock up on supplies beforehand. There’s a shop available when the time is right!
Another part of the game that has received a fresh coat of paint is the user interface. I've added several new features and mechanics, making it more extensive than before. Hopefully, these changes will also make navigating the different menus and managing your character a bit more convenient.
This is the first public release of the Adventurer demo, so there are still plenty of bugs and glitches to work through, particularly when it comes to the new combat mechanics. I'll be keeping an eye out for issues and working on fixes and improvements as I continue developing the game.
Looking further ahead, I'll be moving the project to the Unity engine, which should help me address some of the technical limitations and challenges I've been running into with the current setup. In the meantime, I'll continue pushing updates to the Ren'Py version while I work toward bringing it up to speed with the current build.
For those of you who have been waiting since the last update, thank you for your patience! I've been busy adding features, fixing bugs left and right, and polishing the different systems to bring this version up to par with the Shopkeeper demo. There's been quite a bit going on behind the scenes, and I'm happy to finally have this version ready for everyone to try.
Changelog
Here's a rundown of what's been added and updated in this release:
New shop item: The brush has been added to the shop, allowing you to "write" on characters.
Shop improvements: Made some adjustments to item prices and prevented purchases when an item is no longer needed.
Party member stats: You can now switch between your player character and party members to view their stats.
Party member item use: You can now use and equip certain items while a party member is selected in the inventory screen.
Skill point allocation: Skill points earned through level-ups can now be assigned to stats directly from the inventory screen.
Anger mechanics: Anger now increases during certain interactions. Agility helps reduce the amount of anger gained when stealing.
Player name change: You can now change your player character's name from the inventory screen.
NPC reactions: If you anger an NPC too much, they'll now leave. Don't worry, though, they'll be back the following morning!
New world map: Added a preview of the new world map, giving you a glimpse of the locations planned for the full game.
Audio improvements: Added and updated several sound effects.
Expression updates: Updated some facial expressions during interactions.
Bug fixes and polish: Lots and lots of fixes and improvements across the game.
With all that being said, I hope you enjoy the latest update! I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback, especially on the new combat mechanics, as there's still plenty of room for improvement.
Thanks for sticking around and supporting the project!
Cheers, everyone!

Bro why your game is always crashing
Could you elaborate? Where exactly does it crash, how does it trigger? Haven't gotten any crash reports yet, so it would be helpful to point me to the issue, so I can fix it.
Hope we get to se Rory also could see you party up to help her level and piss her off by abusing another npc
Very nice work it's a bit of a shame you haven't added a way to select things like steal or something so you don't start groping when you want to take the shirt or vice versa same maybe for finger mouth and cock Looking forward to see how it will look when you merge the two games I kinda thought town center would be available cause of the old content hehe I see the traveling merchant doesn't have the setup like in shopkeeper where they don't reequip items unless you sell them? Nice combat nice and simple a bit surprised it isn't setup like in shopkeeper? Is this to give different combat modes from mob battles and boss/city fights? It was a very nice update and happy to finally see clover looking forward to see more and thank you for your hard work
I'm guessing you are playing on mobile? The desktop versions basically indicate actions when hovering over action spaces and part of the idea is to keep it somewhat "natural", as you'd be bare handed for both actions. That being said, once things are more settled, I'll be sure to take in player feed back to polish the mechanics to be more convenient and comfortable. The town center will be the main hub of the game basically, as most of the characters will be accessible there, so this demo is again more focused on the more complicated mechanics, so that when the rest becomes available, it's easier to deliver more content. I'm not sure what you mean with the travelling merchant not having the same setup? It should be the same as in the shopkeeper, having her equip items that aren't in your inventory. If it's a bug, I'll have to look in to it. There are some new features (like the charm skill) that I'd like to try out beforehand and if I can, both versions of the combat will be in the game, tough again, i'll make sure to consult the player base regarding the development. Thank you for your feedback, glad you like it! I'll do my best to deliver to expectations!

Wait, I recognize Clover from the Shopkeeper. Is this a separate game?
It is. Like I mentioned in the last public update, I'm switching to this demo in order to figure out other mechanics and features befor going for the main game which will feature both The Shopkeeper and The adventurer in it.
Ohh I see, but how do I find the Traveling merchant?
Give it some “time”! 😉
By the way quick question. For The Afventurer, I can't seem to figure out how to free-use the enemies, only clover at the camp and in the tent. How do I do the enemies?
I haven't added any particular free use mechanics just yet, as I was focused on making the combat function, I do recommend trying out the Charm skill on enemies, you can buy the skill from the travelling merchant.
Really happy to see you here! Thanks again for your hard work and amazing games, for real there is no better game for free-use that ticks all the right boxes.
