Miu's World Alpha 0.2.1.9 release
Miu's World only gets to grow because of the people backing it here, and 0.2.1.9 is the biggest proof of that yet. It's live now and ready to download from the site. This is our largest VR update so far: the whole get-caught-and-eaten loop finally plays right in the headset, your hands sit where your real hands are, and Miu's drool and stomach acid now render in both eyes. The full patch notes are on the website. You can also now use your AI models that you pay for in Miu's World with our API that's built into the launcher. Simply setup advance settings to use a cloud AI rather than a local one.
0.2.1.9 is live.
Alongside the update, a few things and some straight answers to questions that keep coming up.
Launcher stuck in offline mode
If your launcher got stuck offline, that was a bug on our end, not anything you did. Two ways to fix it: reinstall using our new installer, or run our recovery tool (No longer needed). The full reason and the links are here: https://my.miusworld.com/news
"Why is there even a launcher?"
Fair question, and it's come up in a lot of places with some confusion, so here's the honest version:
*You own your copy* The launcher creates an offline license for you for that version. It is not a subscription, and Miu's World will never be pay monthly to play. It runs offline, you can stay on your current version as long as you want, and if the launcher ever stops supporting your version, we'll hand you a free copy of the latest build. What you bought is yours.
*It makes the AI just work.* Running Miu's AI by hand means installing models, Git and Python and babysitting a few consoles. The launcher does all of that in one click, with built-in tools for debugging when something acts up. Even if you're perfectly capable of setting it up yourself, this is here so you don't have to.
*It keeps Miu's World in one place.* One home for the game, the Android companion app somewhere down the road, and maybe a desktop companion later. It also lets us ship updates quickly without drowning you in a wall of version numbers.
*It sorts out the SteamVR headache*, where the game would launch SteamVR just because you own a headset and have it installed.
*Multiplayer is on the way*, and the launcher helps keep real players matched with real players so those sessions stay fun for everyone.
*We do not ban people for criticism.* Say what you honestly think on forums, YouTube, anywhere. We read it, and it's completely fine. The only thing we ever act on is illegal redistribution of the game. If you think you were banned by mistake, email our support and we'll take a real look.
And yes, part of what the launcher does helps against piracy. We're not going to pretend it doesn't. But that was never the main reason it exists, and it never costs you your ownership or your right to just play the game you paid for.
We make Miu's World because we love building games and the systems behind them, and we want to do right by the people who play it, your privacy included. We'll keep listening, and keep making it better. Thanks for being here.
Thank you again for being here and making this possible. There's a lot more on the way, including the first real steps toward multiplayer.
