Orrrrrrrrrrrr, the solution to the Fermi Paradox is even easier. Any advanced civilization that found us would STAY THE HELL AWAY!
Serious question: Would not advanced civilizations have even better encryption than humans have in 2026? And if so, if we received any of their signals, would it not look like random bits? Right now, most communication on earth (for instance, when I send this post to Patreon's web server) is encrypted. Even things that are "broadcast" for thousands or millions of people to read or watch are encrypted. It is not unreasonable to assume a civilization a couple centuries ahead of us would encrypt everything by default. The only thing we could tell is that some stream of light (radio, microwave, x-rays, whatever) is coming from "that" direction. But there are LOTS of light sources in the universe. How could we differentiate between a natural source and an "intelligent" source? Obviously I am ignoring the possibility of the aliens purposely sending us something they expect us to understand.
