My Life Across The Multiverse With Mangekyo Sharingan 6

The following morning.

Sunlight spilled through the narrow window, painting pale golden lines across the wooden floorboards.

My eyes opened.

"..."

For a few seconds, I simply stared at the ceiling. The previous night's discoveries replayed through my mind.

'What a pleasant morning.' A smile tugged at the corner of my lips. With a lazy stretch, I climbed out of bed, every joint protesting from yesterday's activities.

Crack.

Crack.

"Ugh..."

A quick wash later, I slung my sword over my shoulder, adjusted the now-empty scroll pouch at my waist, and pushed open the door.

The moment I stepped outside, I predictably discovered that the capital had changed.

How? Well for one, despite the fact that my massacre mainly took place at the other end of the city, there were Imperial guards everywhere.

Squads marched through the streets in full armor. Mounted patrols trotted along the main roads.

Even the watchtowers overlooking the districts had doubled their sentries. At nearly every major intersection stood temporary checkpoints.

Wagons were stopped and their passengers forcefully questioned. Everyone leaving and entering were thoroughly searched so much so that at times, even pedestrians looking the slightest bit suspicious weren't exempt.

"...Well." I shoved my hands into my pockets. "Someone's having a rough morning."

It certainly wasn't me. As I wandered through the streets, snippets of conversation drifted between frightened citizens.

"...Did you hear?"

"They say an entire district was wiped out."

"I heard it was Night Raid!"

"No, no. It couldn't have been them."

"My cousin works near the eastern quarter. He said there were bodies everywhere..."

"They're saying hundreds died. A lot of imperial guards included."

"Hundreds?"

"I heard over five hundred!"

"..."

Rumors spread faster than wildfire, with every version I listened to contradicting the last.

'Five hundred?' I quietly walked past them, contemplating what I just heard. It was amazing how people could boldly declare things they never witnessed. To be honest, I couldn't really complain as I was once a perpetrator in my last life, spreading information about things I had never seen first hand. Of course, I wouldn't be joining this discussion as I didn't know the answer to begin with. I had lost count somewhere after the first couple dozen.

'Maybe I got a little carried away.'

Eh.

No regrets though.

The world was objectively better off without them. Eventually, I found myself standing across the street from a familiar stone building. The Imperial Bounty Office. Well, at least that was what I called it. It was just the guard garrison.

Unlike yesterday... The place was absolute chaos. Imperial soldiers flooded the entrance. Officials hurried in and out carrying stacks of paperwork.

Messengers sprinted through the courtyard. Several men argued loudly beside a notice board now overflowing with fresh postings.

"..."

I watched for nearly a minute.

'Well, it seems that can't be today.' Cashing in that bounty would have to wait. After all, walking in carrying Zanku's head right now would be about as subtle as setting off fireworks in the Imperial Palace.

Sure, there was technically nothing illegal about claiming a bounty but that didn't mean the Prime Minister couldn't decide otherwise. After all, the corruption in this world had seeped so deep that those in power didn't even care for whether what they were doing was covered or not.

Just labelling a crime on the target regardless of how much sense it made and if there was evidence or not was good enough. And what were the odds that a powerful individual capable of killing an imperial arms user appeared the day after a slaughter took place in the capital?

'I'll give them a few days.' I quietly turned around, waiting for things to die down. It wasn't like the bounty wasn't going anywhere and it was mostly just my inner loot goblin acting up on my part. After all, I was a collector at heart and free currency was always welcomed.

Following which, I spent the next two days making my way around the capital.

The large number of guards patrolling was obvious just how tense things were, but despite the massacre, things hadn't gotten too out of hand.

After all, forcing everything to close down for a day or two wasn't something they could do. Or rather, would do, as I doubted Prime Minister Honest cared for the safety of the people. If they got massacred, they got massacred. Hence, everything was still running. The markets and establishments hadn't been closed down so with the money I had left, I proceeded to thoroughly make the best for myself.

The afternoon crowds parted around me as I wandered lazily through the market, idly debating whether I should spend money buying another bag of roasted chestnuts as I returned from the gladiator pits. Yes, there were gladiator pits where challengers, danger beasts and slaves of nobles battled it out for the people's amusements.

Honestly wasn't as great as the hype made it out to be, leading my wandering to the market food courts to once again indulge in my ultimate pleasure.

Food.

One of the perks of traveling between worlds was that money eventually became meaningless. Food, however... Food was eternal. I popped another chestnut into my mouth.

Crunch.

"...Not bad." I uttered while looking at the sun hanging in the sky. 'Not there yet huh?' Two days. It was already past noon by an hour or two. With my clone's speed, it should already be there by now.

The fact that I hadn't been summoned yet probably meant that the fish hadn't arrived yet. Either that or it had purposely slowed its pace to leave enough obvious enough tracks to bait them there.

Either way, there wasn't much for me to do except wait. Which suited me just fine.

I wandered aimlessly through another district, taking in the sights.

Street performers. Merchants loudly advertising miracle medicines that were nothing more than coloured water after a second look. Children chasing one another through the crowd. A horribly sounding travelling musician trying.

The man was arrested soon after. No I wasn't kidding. '...Been a while since I've had a vacation in a medieval fantasy.'

I thought as I passed through the entertainment district.

The atmosphere changed almost immediately. The smell of perfume drifted through the air. Brightly dressed women leaned against balconies and doorways, calling out to passing men with practiced smiles.

"Hey there handsome .."

"My My girls .. take a look at this one."

"Ara? That face is completely new. First time in this district, sweetheart?"

"Don't just keep walking! We'll make sure you leave with a smile."

"Do you have any experience? Come to sister and I'll be sure to teach you everything."

A few of the women giggled amongst themselves as I passed, one even giving me a playful wink.

"...Huh." I raised a hand to scratch the back of my head, laughing awkwardly.

'... Yeah, It's also been a while for many other things too .. hasn't it?" My mind couldn't help but drift back to all sorts of memories.

Travelling from world to world didn't exactly leave much room for stable relationships. You met people. You helped people. Sometimes you fought alongside them. Sometimes... things simply happened.

Sometimes, I couldn't help but wonder how they were doing.

"Well. That was nostalgic."

I blinked, quickly turning my gaze away and continued walking. Mom always said women were vices, and I had absolutely no intention of emptying my wallet today.

Priorities.

I still needed to build the coolest Imperial Arm in history. Once that was done, I could probably find the time to indulge myself in the arms of beauties across the multiverse.

After all, when it came to Ryuusei Uchiha, I was an adventurer first, a certified troll second, a collector third, and a proper man of culture fourth.

Beauties certainly couldn't be neglected. Of course, I was still of sound mind and still had standards despite having the transformation jutsu. Hence, they all had to be of age for starters.

That would unfortunately eliminate a lot of top tier waifu choices, like my darling rem, but thankfully there were a lot more, many starting with an M.

Mitsuri, Maki, Mai, Mirko,  Tohru, Esdeath, Fubuki, Kaina, Mikasa, Asuka, Makima .. ehem. That last one must have slipped in there.

'Don't think about it, don't think about it. Romance can wait.' I thought as I shoved another roasted chestnut into my mouth to drown my messy thoughts and headed out of the entertainment district. The thought lingering for only a moment before drifting away with the afternoon breeze.

I turned another corner.

THUD!

Someone collided directly into my shoulder.

"Ow!"

The girl stumbled forward, nearly falling before somehow catching herself.

'Seriously?' I raised an eyebrow.

"I'm so sorry!" She immediately bowed so deeply I wondered if she was trying to headbutt the pavement.

"I wasn't paying attention!"

"..."

I looked down, properly examining her features. Short brown hair. Bright eyes. And an expression so earnest that I had never seen it before. She wore what looked to be a military uniform with upper body armor on and armoured gloves on her hands.

Behind her stood a weird looking  white dog with a collar on, staring at me with surprising intelligence while standing on two legs.

" .."

"..."

'You've gotta be kidding me.'

'...Seryu.'

I resisted the urge to morph my facial expressions into something unnatural.

"Um ... Hi."
