Shaddolands Cast – Series 1: Episode 1 – The Hartwells

Hey folks, time to introduce another couple who play an important role in Shaddolands: Jason and Claire Hartwell.

They’ve been friends with Steve and Mal for years, often joining them on trips and holidays, and they bring a very different flavour to the mix…

💋 Claire Hartwell

Claire is in her late 20s and has been married to Jason for several years. She’s one of those women who doesn’t have to try too hard to turn heads—her natural beauty, toned figure, and long legs do most of the work for her.

At college she met Marilyn (Mal) Delaney, and the two have been close ever since. Through Mal, she was introduced to Steve, and together the couples became fast friends. Their bond is so strong that the Hartwells are often considered part of the family.

Claire’s career as a freelance digital marketing consultant gives her the freedom to work whenever and wherever she pleases—often perched with her laptop at a café, on the terrace, or by the pool. It suits her perfectly, as she thrives on flexibility and choice.

She is witty, playful, and has a mischievous streak that’s impossible to ignore. She loves to tease Jason, but also delights in being adored by him. For Claire, there’s a thrill in being admired and pushing boundaries, though her devotion to Jason has never been in question.

That’s the balance she brings: flirtatious energy on the outside, unshakable loyalty on the inside. And it’s exactly this blend that makes her such an intriguing presence in our story…

🔥 Jason Hartwell

Jason is in his early 30s, tall, broad-shouldered, and carries himself with a kind of calm strength that doesn’t need to be announced. He’s not flashy or loud, but when Jason speaks, people tend to listen.

He founded Hartwell Networks, a company specialising in fibre optic design and FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) rollouts. The business is successful, but it occasionally demands his urgent attention—even while away. This sometimes leaves Claire with free time on her hands…

Jason is deeply in love with his wife and has always given her space to be herself. He’s emotionally secure and knows that trust and freedom are the foundations of their marriage. Where other men might bristle with jealousy, Jason is the kind who steadies the ground under Claire’s feet. Steve greatly admires this trait in his friend.

Together, Jason and Claire are the kind of couple who light up a room in different ways: she with her playfulness and allure, he with his calm confidence. And when combined with their closeness to Steve and Mal, they become part of the web of connections at the heart of Shaddolands.
