Preview: Seasonal Emotions Mod

EP05: Seasons

So, I created a storytelling mod, that attempts to create a natural emotion system through the seasons. This mod allows your Sims to get happy or sad during the season of your choice. This is available for Teens-Elders. This mod comes in TWO flavors (*You can use both):

• General Seasonal Emotions: (maybe winters are a sad time for your Sim.)
• Emotions based off of Present/Past Romances: (maybe your Sim’s summer fling ended in heartbreak, and they get sad about love during the summers). Read more below:

General Seasonal Emotions/Traits:
This mod is pretty simple. You will be able to select a trait for your Sim. Each trait comes with a buff that will make them either happy or sad during that particular season. See the general trait names below:

Spring:

• Sad Trait: Spring Gloom
• Happy Trait: Spring Bloom

Summer:

• Sad Trait: Summer Sadness
• Happy Trait: Summer Cheer

Autumn/Fall:

•Sad Trait: Autumn Dread
• Happy Trait: Autumn Delight

Winter:

• Sad Trait: Winter Blues
• Happy Trait: Winter Bliss

These traits do NOT conflict with each other; therefore, you can mix and match as you like! (i.e. Your Sim can be sad during Winter, and happy during Spring; your Sim can even be BOTH happy and sad during Spring, if you wanna mess around with their emotions)

Choosing a Trait:
In order to select a trait, you will have to:

• First, ensure that cheats are enabled.
• SHIFT + Click on your Sim
• Select a trait under the Seasonal Emotions pie menu. NOTE: I strongly recommend that you choose the trait DURING the correlated season (For example, only choose the Summertime Sadness trait in the Summer).

Timing & Frequency:
Your Sim will get a buff each day, that lasts 4 hours. There is a cool down period of 12-24 hours (so that it doesn't get annoying). The buff will appear randomly until the season is over. See an example of the Spring Gloom trait below:

Romance Based Season Traits:

For these traits, Sims will:

• Get a sad buff about heartbreak during the season of your choice.
• Get happy about current romance during the season of your choice.

Again, feel free to mix and match these traits as you please. See the list of traits below:

Spring:

• Heartbreak Trait: Child of the Rain
• Current Romance Trait: Heart in Bloom

Summer:

• Heartbreak Trait: Heat-Faded Soul
• Current Romance Trait: Goldenhearted

Autumn/Fall:

• Heartbreak Trait: Wanderer in the Wind
• Current Romance Trait: Keeper of Warmth

Winter:

• Heartbreak Trait: Child of the Cold
• Current Romance Trait: Candlelit Heart

Choosing a Trait:
Like the general traits above, you will have to:

• Ensure that cheats are enabled.
• SHIFT + Click on your Sim
• Select a trait under the Seasonal Romance pie menu.

Disclaimer: This mod is not meant to represent SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) which is way more nuanced and detailed. It simply is meant to add some emotional depth through the seasons to your storytelling/gameplay.
