Preview: PLUMJOB: a mini career overhaul

Gone are the days where your Sims can simply go to the career panel and select a job. With this mod, your sim will have to pass an interview AND have a required degree. Read more below:
This mod introduces:
• An interview system
• A degree requirement system
• An application preparation process
This mod is available for Teens-Elders.
Selecting a Career:
When going to the career panel, your Sim will not be able to select a career until they first pass their interview and have the required degree. This is for every career EXCEPT: Freelance Careers, Actor, Interior Designer, Military. NOTE: For part-time careers, Sims will only need to pass the interview.
⚠️ NOTE: There is a possibility that your playable Sims will lose their careers when you use this mod, even if they have a degree. That is because they technically have not passed their interview, so the game will throw them out of the career until they do so. If you want to cheat this, Shift Click on your Sims and select the “Pass interview” cheat, and then you can add them back to their careers once they have the required degree.
The Interview Process:
Your Sim will be able to do their interview either Virtually (on the computer) or In-Person (they go to a rabbithole). Virtual interviews are shorter than in person interviews. Sims are only allowed to attend an interview, be it virtual or in person, on Mondays-Fridays, between the hours of 9 A.M and 5 P.M.
To be able to attend an interview, your Sim will NEED to:
• E-Mail the Hiring Manager
• Prepare and Submit their Resume and Cover Letter
• Prepare and Submit their Professional References
You can find these interactions under the career panel on the computer.
Succeeding and Failing an Interview:
Your Sim will most likely fail their first interview. When they do, it is ABSOLOUTLEY NECCESSARY that they complete the Follow Up on Past Interview interaction afterwards on the computer. If they don't, your Sim will continue to fail their job interviews! There is no guarantee that they will pass their next interview, but it does give them a chance at succeeding (at least once).
Your Sim will only be able to attend an interview ONCE every three days. After three days, the interaction will be available to them again.
Your Sim will also get a random buff after they pass or fail an interview.
NOTE: If for some reason you want to start the whole interview process over, go to the computer and complete the Withdraw All Applications interaction. This will reset everything.
SimDeed:
This mod introduces the SimDeed job platform where your Sim can find a job/career. The Find a Job interaction is now called Browse Job Openings, and you can find it under the SimDeed submenu on the computer. You can also find the SimDeed menu on phones.
Some things your Sim can do on SimDeed:
• Browse Jobs
• Read SimDeed Exclusive Articles
• Browse Salaries (gives your Sim a random buff)
LlamadIN:
This mod also introduces LlamadIN (like LinkedIn lol) where your Sim can explore an array of job/educational interactions. Your Sim will need to create an account first.
Some things your Sim can do on LlamadIn are:
• Network with Employers
• Pay Expert to Review Resume (§150)
• Practice Courses on LlamadIn Learning
• Study Interview Tips
• Research Educational Articles
• Research Companies
• Message University Alumni for Career Tips (only available for University Students)
This mod does NOT:
• Alter the Career Jump System that came with Discover University
• Alter NPC Jobs (i.e. Stall vendors, Paparazzi)
• Alter Freelance/Gig Careers
• Alter Career Payments
Tips, Cheats & Exceptions
• If you don't want to go through the interview phase, you can SHIFT+CLICK on your Sim and select the Pass Interview Cheat. (If your Sim failed a recent interview, ensure that they complete the Follow up On Past Interview interaction before doing this. Also make sure that you have cheats enabled)
• Try not to queue interactions. Wait until an interaction is complete, so the game recognizes that your Sim did it.
• For elders, LlamadIN does not appear correctly on their phones. I'm still looking into this.

Has this been updated for the Feb 2026 update? Im running into the issue where I am only able to look for a job once and then it doesnt load the option again. I also noticed it doesnt pause the screen like it did before once selecting a job
i have a question, if i marry someone outside of the household who have a job, once they move in do they get kick out of their job?
What degree would I need for the entertainer career
Unfortunately this mod isn't working gor me. I have all of the requirements. I downloaded it yesterday, had my teens sims do the coverletter/contact reccomendations/resume and email the hiring manager. Today (second sim day) they went to attend the interview however it was greyed out, like the actions above had not been completed. So I had my sims to them a second time. I still cannot attend any interviews. Any help would be very much appreciated :-)
Hey so I've been having an issue with your mod where my Sim has been rejected several times even after doing all of the other options on LllamadIn to get a job, she submitted a resume and cover letter, networked with employers, did research, etc. I've wasted half of her Young Adult life with my Sim having been unemployed because she kept being rejected. I was about to completely delete this mod until I came back to this post to figure out how to cheat the "pass interviews" option. It would be great if you tweaked the mod so that the rejection rate is much lower, super annoying waiting around 3 days plus a weekend in order to be able to attend an Interview, only to be rejected right afterwards.

Does this make every affected job require a university degree, or only the ones that realistically would?

second time I got rejected. I tried the Pass interview cheat but nothing happen. :( i love your mod tho but I think its not working on my end.
I thought the cheat was not working, but I discovered that if you browse jobs in SimDeed after using the cheat, jobs relevant to your degree are unlocked. I hope this helps you.
I love this mod, but I seldom have time to get my Sims through university. Would you ever consider making an alternate version with just the job application process? I know I can cheat the degree, but it would be cool if prior work experience/life skills could also be a qualification along with degrees. I work in civil service with some people irl who don't have degrees, but they have the experience. Just musing at this point, but thanks for all you do!

Hi, no being a teen isn't the problem since this mod is available to them. Seems like it may be a glitch on your end. Maybe try deleting and reinstalling the mod and see if anything changes. Also make sure you have the required mods and packs needed for this mod.

hey, does it conflict with kuttoe career overhaul or zero job finding?
I was searching to see if anyone asked this. i feel like it shouldn't conflict with zeros job finding because his does no overrides but i am worried about conflic with kuttoe. and to that point with adeepindigos different overhauls for writer and entertainer.
i cant download it because it says upgrade or somethin. Can anybody help because this seems like a very cool mod!!

I’d love a version of this that required only one degree. Degrees take so long that getting two would be impossible for me since I can only play on Saturdays due to work
Hi, I think you read it incorrectly. Only one degree is required. Two degrees are only if you want to bypass the interview process.

Hey, yes this only works on EA careers and not custom careers. In the description, I added something if modders want to integrate my system into their mods.
I have an older version of a mod very similar to this one from a few years ago. Must check my legacy folder.

Hey, unfortunately not because that would involve me having to modify a creator's mod, which goes against most of their T.O.U. But I did add something in the description for modders, if they want to incorporate my interview system in their mods.
