Map Progress Update: Farm #3
Hello, No Creek Fans. Time for another progress update. Beta 4.0 has been out for about three weeks now and testing seems to be going well. There are several little things that have been addressed, but nothing major has come up to this point. I've been working on fixing little things, tweaking stuff, as well as adding new assets.
If you aren't a part of the Discord, I would highly suggest checking it out as there is a lot of good information in there about bugs, fixes, and people sharing ideas, screenshots, etc. Here's a quick rundown of the stuff that I've been working on:
Bug Fixes:
-Texture path error on T posts
-Fixed traffic getting stuck in Dunlap when two cars meet
-Fixed snow layer not lining up with the top of grain bins
-Adjusted the grain unload trigger at the pits for the COOP so that grain is only dumped over grates
-Fixed environment sounds to be muted when in a vehicle instead of being highly audible while inside the cab
That's all I have fixed so far. There are several other small things that will be fixed before the release of the next beta version. I'm still finding that a high percentage of the things that are reported as bugs are usually mod conflicts or something that Giants needs to fix on their end. The map isn't perfectly error free, but it is pretty clean.
Additions/Adjustments for the next beta:
-Adjusted several of the numbers on the meadow grass. This was mainly to make it much taller when mature, and much shorter when mowed to be more realistic, but I also adjusted the density to keep performance as high as possible. Now the grass is over waist high when standing in it and, when mowed for hay, it is cut very tight.
-Added several vehicles at the COOP for player use. You'll be able to access a couple forklifts, a wheel loader, and two semis as vehicles. There is also a tanker trailer, hopper bottom, and tender to use. These are not sellable nor are they "tabbable".
-Adjusted the daylight cycle to provide more light in the evenings for nearly every month of the year. The months that are supposed to have the most light (May, June, and July) saw the biggest increase to be more realistic.
-Added workshop triggers to the completed farms. These are located just outside the main sheds at each farm.
-Added flowing water sounds to the ditches that flow with water after it rains. It was tricky to get the sound to toggle on/off with the visual effects, but it is all working.
-Added a plane that flies all around the map. Made it so that he flies extremely low and dusts one field on the map periodically. It's pretty cool to watch.
In addition to all of this, I've been busy adding and detailing additional farms. This is a very tedious process, as there is so much that goes into each. Making every structure placeable, as well as having separate placeable decorations for building/area, takes a long time. One of the things that I wanted to be sure of was that the map had options for the player that feel old as well as new. The third farm has a much more modern feel to it. It will feature a large hog operation, a bedpack facility for cows, as well as a huge pasture. It has modern buildings and quite a bit of storage as well as room to navigate. I think this will be an appealing setup for players looking to run a modern operation that you might see in the area. Check out the pictures of the progress. As usual, I still plan to add and tweak some stuff, but it is getting close.
Thanks again for all the testing and support for the project. It feels like we are rounding third base and heading down the home stretch!
God Bless,
No Creek Farms
