Have you ever wondered?
My mapmaking journey started way back in FS17. Many of you will remember that my first project, No Creek Farms, was a standard sized map of my family farm. I knew nothing about modding at the time and just dove in attempting to recreate something that was near and dear to my heart. I had no idea that the map would be such a big hit with the community. As the next versions of FS came and went, that map was converted over a few times, but never had the original feel to it if you ask me.
I get a lot of messages asking about bringing my previous maps forward to FS25. Many ask for Loma and Medicine Creek, but the highest number of requests I get is for No Creek. I thought about it for a bit and didn't really love the idea of doing the same project over again and kind of dismissed the idea. Then, one day, while scouring Google Earth for potential map locations, I decided to scan around my original map location. It didn't take long before it made perfect sense, everything was right there. I quickly started drawing boxes and lines over the satellite images and, after a bit, was excited about what I saw. I could incorporate my original No Creek map into a 4x version that would now include the tiny town of Dunlap, a couple different blacktops, an old set of train tracks, and of course lots of unique terrain and varying fields.
Have you ever wondered what was beyond the boundaries of my original map? If so, soon you will get to explore a vast landscape that will continue the rural, cozy theme that No Creek captured so well. I am really excited with the layout and all the diversity that expanding the map will bring. Expect some changes to the original area as far as the farm layout is concerned, but, for the most part, this portion of the map will be highly recognizable.
Take a look at the picture to get an idea of the new area to be included.
You can see that the original map will make up the northeast quadrant of the new version. This provides for the most interesting features of the surrounding area to be incorporated. How many farms will there be? What will the town look like? The dealership? COOP? Terraces? These are just some of the things that testers will have input on moving forward. I hope you will be a part of bringing a classic forward and turning it into one of the best maps out there.
Look for the early beta tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, CST) sometime. I've got a lot to prepare between now and then, but I hope you're as excited as I am to get the ball rolling on this project!
