Map Progress Update: Ray County Beta 3.0 Arrives Sunday evening 3/16/25!
Hello, Ray County fans! I've got great news, the wait for beta 3.0 is nearly over! As the title of this post indicates, the next version of the map will be released on Sunday evening. It has been a ton of work to get the map to where it is and going to be a lot more to see it through to my final vision of what it can be.
When beta 3.0 is ready for download, I will make another post with specific instructions. Please make sure to read through these thoroughly as there are more and more features of the map that will need explaining for you to get the most out of it. As many of you probably already know, Giants has still not released the next patch. I thought it might come out with the latest DLC, but it did not. This means that there will be a thing or two that will be pushed back until later. The good news is, though, when they do push out the next patch, a couple features should start working in the version you will have. I will keep you posted on that front.
I'm looking forward to what people think of the newest version and will continue to do my best to fix/adjust things and listen to the ideas of my supporters. A huge thank you goes out to those who are active in Discord and posting pictures, finding bugs, and giving feedback through that platform. You are very valuable to making this map all it can be.
If you've been playing on the map, you are going to see a ton of improvements including fixes and additions. Let's take a look at what has been improved upon/added in beta 3.0:
-Fixed collisions on railroad crossings
-Added a secondary entrance/exit to the dealership for larger equipment that is coming and going.
-Slowed traffic down a bit.
-Reversed the fuel tank at the South Farm to face the correct direction.
-Made custom models for the bridge guardrail to match the curve.
-Added street and road signs.
-Created custom soybean textures for the harvest ready state and adjusted row spacing to be closer to 15".
-Fixed several more floating trees.
-Adjusted corn stubble color as well as its height.
-Added a bunch of ground textures to be paintable by the player.
-Fixed water splashing and tires getting wet when driving over the bridge.
-Corrected Soybean stubble to have some height and have stubble destruction.
-Fixed several "l10n" warnings.
-Corrected Wheat stubble to be much taller and have stubble destruction.
-Added a vehicle workshop trigger to the north side of the dealership.
-Modeled and textured an old grain bin fan and unload auger to go on some old bins at the North Farm.
-Added the ability to dry corn and sell it for an increased price.
-Added a sellpoint for grain, wood, bales, and pallets. You can directly sell the grain or you can store it there and then take it back out or sell it on the train.
-License plates from the late 80's - early 90's were added.
-Kansas City Southern AC4400CW locomotives added as well as far more realistic KCS railcars.
-Adjusted the "non-buyable" farmland to be purchaseable for free. This was just the roads, train tracks, dealership, and buy/sellpoint area.
-Made a custom cattle lot for the North Farm. This is intended to be a weaning lot for calves, but use it however you like!
-Cleaned up all items underneath the map left over from Riverbend Springs.
-Completed decorative items on North Farm.
-Fixed lights, scaling, and added decorative items to the North Farm house (meant to be 80's-90's theme).
-Fixed the issue of not being able to buy bales in the store.
Attached to the post are some pictures of the sellpoint that will handle all of your grain needs as well as the train that will periodically make its way through the map.
For now it is back to work prepping the map for another round of testing. I'm excited to get your feedback.
