Map Progress Update: Collectibles........sort of
Beta 2.0 testing is going well and I've been moving forward with the map in many different ways. I will always try to keep up with fixes for things that you find as I go. The hope is that you keep playing the project in all sorts of ways on all sorts of systems so we can continue to refine the map.
This update is unique. I've been working on so many custom things that take time, but don't worry, progress is being made. My goal with the second farm is to make it feel like it's 1995. Smaller, older barns, lots of junk, different style house, etc. I will post pictures of this part of the map once it is closer to complete. For now, I will give you a sneak peak of one of the buildings on the north farm. It's a small haybarn that LJR modding made and that I have been working on re-texturing to make it the style we are looking for. It has taken some time, but I'm really pleased with how it is turning out and excited to see what you think of it.
You are probably thinking, what the heck is he referring to in the title of this update. Well, instead of the collectibles that some of you enjoy finding around Giants maps, I decided to take a little different approach. One of the most popular things to do in the area (and a favorite of many farmers) is to hunt deer and turkey. With that being said, I decided to model some stuff up and place it all over the map. Most of it is seasonal and only appears for a few months, days, or even just minutes a day. You might find a pop-up ground blind (for turkey hunting in the spring), a ladder stand leaned up against a tree on the edge of a field, a tower stand atop a hill with a perfect vantage point, or a secluded food plot in the middle of the timber. You'll also see some impressive wildlife if you look closely! I was able to nab a turkey and deer model off the internet and place them in several places over the map to show up at just the right time of day (or night).
I know this doesn't have much to do with "farming", but it does have a ton to do with immersion and that is the entire point. I remember many times sitting in a tractor and catching a glimpse of monster buck or a couple toms in full strut trying to impress a group of hens. Working on this was a nice break from all the other stuff and added a ton to the map. I hope you enjoy seeing how many you can find while you working in the fields.

What a beautiful map, and what a fantastic idea for the “collectibles” that will really cool
Looks really nice.
Now you just need to add the turkeys crashing through the trees as they come in for a landing. Or them roosting in trees lol. Or those freaking squirrels tearing up the woods lol
Amazing stuff 👏
That farm looks sweet
